Default Prado 1kz engine problem help me out

Salam dear pakwheelers i have toyota prado 97 with diesel 1kz te engine. Problem i m facing is oil is coming in intercooler then to throttle body , i have asked my mechanic he said new turbo and new rings r neded to solve this problem. let me give u guys little overview of my engine condition there is some blow but not too much very little oil consumption like 1 liter after every 5000km which i think is due to the oil coming in intercooler and throttle body. I m not facing any issue in driving my prado pickup is excellent no black or white smoke on full throttle fuel average is nice 7km/L . Any expert here plz give me suggestion what to do ,should i go for kabli turbo or new rings ?

    Check turbo boost
    Check play in turbo
And check ur turbo for leaks !
These things will tell u about turbo health weather to retain it or not , after correcting ur turbo check engine oil loss after use if no loss no need to open engine and replace rings etc

the throttle provided in your engine is for EGR purpose and to reduce stalling shock.

If you have found oil in your charge cooler and its not a burnt type smell then almost 80% certain that the turbo's seals are leaking, meaning new or rebuilt turbo install.

to isolate the problem from the blowby - test for liquid oil being pushed out from the tube.

I have the same problem. Noticed oil around the throttle body where the top mounted intercooler pipe is connected. I plan on taking the intercooler off and clean the tb.

Oil consumption could be because of worn valve seals.

I can assure you - there is no engine imported from Afghanistan. - so I dont know where you would buy a turbo from Kabul.

there is a small market selling turbochargers - new and used in Ruby Plaza (next to plaza market) - they sometimes have new assemblies or the repair kits for some turbos - they usually deal in huge industrial units but I have bought new holset and Garett automotive purpose units from there too.

new turbocharger assembly is not cheap, its price might shock you.

You can try your luck with a scrap market engine turbo, its a hit or miss - and highly depends on the term of purchase you set with the seller.

Bro may be its nt the ryt way but remove the intercooler pipe which goes from turbo to intercooler and see play in the turbine blades if they move with fingers or not

By kabuli the mechanic means its out of a used engine imported from japan or uae but not used locally

As per updated scenario, if the turbo seals are leaking, there is no use of oil catch can. As that works for fumes from bad valve seats sucked thru breather connecting tappet cover and intake hose.

Though these cans work well by design to trap droplets that condense and hit the surfaces within tank and long pipe. But yet, it can further be improved by securely tying a wire gauze / mesh or small cloth sock at the end of inlet pipe in the catch can.

Sir Xulfiqar bhai gave u the best solution go for a complete turbo core swap as turbo from a used engine is a hit n trial I have lost alot of money on it and now put in a new core. @akifjanjua if he has one might be able to help you with core.

I have also seen a add on olx in Karachi who has turbo cores so u might search olx also
