Default Replace 2LT engine from Prado 1998

William from Tanzania Africa, I have a prado 1998 which has a 2lt engine - automatic, and it has problem with temperature when I go far and in hills. I am thinking about changine the engine to 5L or 1KZ.... I would prefer 5L over 1KZ ... will 5L works well?

Yes it will, it is a beast of an engine and it has a lot of torque, btw whats the problem with your current engine, if that can be fixed easily, dont dish it out just yet

Old school 1Kz is the way to go.

5L will be bolt on and will put almost same torque out as 2L-T on the other hand 1kz will put lot more torque out compared to 2L-T

So will 1Kz. Having a greater torque could be used as advantage. 5L is based on same 2L and 3L designs that were prone to head cracks when over heated. Nevertheless, 5L is latest technology that shouldn't be undermined. So, i endorse both of them, but 1Kz remains my favourite.
