William from Tanzania Africa, I have a prado 1998 which has a 2lt engine - automatic, and it has problem with temperature when I go far and in hills. I am thinking about changine the engine to 5L or 1KZ.... I would prefer 5L over 1KZ ... will 5L works well?
So will 1Kz. Having a greater torque could be used as advantage. 5L is based on same 2L and 3L designs that were prone to head cracks when over heated. Nevertheless, 5L is latest technology that shouldn't be undermined. So, i endorse both of them, but 1Kz remains my favourite.
