    Default Toyota Passo Brake Pads

    Dear All,

My Passo's brake pads got finished and mechanic installed the closest match which was a bad idea because they have started to make a grinding sound. They looked pretty similar in size and shape but i was not able to find them in pindi/islamabad. Can anyone tell me if there is anything serious or where i can buy these?

    Experience in this is welcome!

Default Toyota Passo 2007 brake pads

Do you still have the brake pads? My car makes loud screeching noises when I apply the brakes. I think the brakes are gone.

A friend of mine bought the discs from gawalmandi, pindi for around 8800 for passo. The seller claimed they were original

Also, the brake fluid of my car is a little low, it's not filled to the brim but is halfway between the low and the max values. Shall I simply top up the fluid with another dot 3 or bleed the system and trace the fluid or go for a complete change of brake pads ?

After replacing pads the fluid should return to the top.

Low level is due to worn out pads.

Thanks for the speedy reply. The brakes don't make any noise and the car stops perfectly fine so should I have the entire pads replaced even then ?

You can visually inspect the thickness of the pads, although you may need to remove the wheel to get a better view. Replace if they are too thin (like less than 3 mm)

Top up the fluid when it reaches the low mark (or if it is still low after you replace the pads).

I do not remember exactly about metal stripes. But in my opinion you should not wait for any grinding sound, just get done Brake Service and you will come to know about health of Brake Pads. It's a few minutes job.

But low level of fluid is an indication that brake pads are done more than 50%.
You may schedule up to change them after a couple of weeks. But untill then do not top up the brake fluid. Because when you will replace the new brake pads, the fluid level will automatically come to its max. level.
