Default Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon Owners/Fan Club

The purpose of this thread is to discuss and share views regarding Daihatsu boon/Toyota passo and to provide a common platform for the owners and potential buyers to discuss the car.
Passo/Boon has become quite popular in the last 2 or 3 months. People are getting curious to know about this car which offers better features than the overpriced 1000cc vitz in a better price tag. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. Realistic advices on prices regarding the condition and model of car will be provided.

    Exactly my point sir.
Many people are very keen on following the manufacturers instructions. But no one will do this, but they will pour a 0w20 grade oil in their 5-6 old engines.
Theres one thing called engine life in terms of the mileage of the engine, and another in terms of years in operation. We overlook that

Since the thread has a long history, finding answer to my question is difficult. I am looking for a fuel efficient car and I want to know from Passo owners what mileage is the car giving to you guys. Inside the city and on long routes.

    I have Passo Model 2012 Since May2014
It has sofa seats key less entry etc . I do not have idea about its grade neither i have any auction sheet.
It gives me 15-16 km/l with in city
22.3km/l on motorway from Isb to lahore.
    with AC on Motorway 20km/l
I will start using Hi-Octane soon and will check if it gives me better mileage.
    This is very good car.

Passo has got the same engine that of Vitz 1.0, which is 1kr-fe. The company advertised mileage for Vitz 1.0 L is 21.6 km/l.

    I have got vitz 2013 model and it's giving me 21 km/L.

Older Models of Vitz , with the same engine are not that fuel efficient.

In May 2014 when i bought this car its meter was 7300 km
    It was just like new
    Now its 19800 km
I will suggest to buy Toyota Passo with milage less then 20000 km then you will get better average.
My chacho bought Passo 2012 with no keyless entry and sofa seats. He is only using Hi-Octane and he got 18 km/l
    That's why i am switching to Hi-Octane.
Blending two types of patrol results same average.
One more thing i only use Shell Patrol.

These fuel consumption tests are done on circuits. So one can only achieve these figures on highways.. My prius gives me 20km/lit in city drive, nd its a hybrid

Yup 14 km/lit is acheivable. But that doesnt count as being fuel efficient

The Japanese standards followed are JC08 as below:
    JC08
A new more demanding test, called the JC08, was established in December 2006 for Japan’s new standard that goes into effect in 2015, but it is already being used by several car manufacturers for new cars. The JC08 test is significantly longer and more rigorous than the 10–15 mode test. The running pattern with JC08 stretches out to 1200 seconds, and there are both cold and warm start measurements and top speed is 82 km/h. The economy ratings of the JC08 are lower than the 10–15 mode cycle, but they are expected to be more real world.[32] The Toyota Prius became the first car to meet Japan’s new 2015 Fuel Economy Standards measured under the JC08 test.[34]

The same standard (JC08) has been used to evaluate for Vitz (1.0L) giving 21.6 km/l. There are three type of fuel consumptions:

    1) Urban
    2) Extra-Urban
    3) Combined

This 21.6 km/l is taken as combined.
