Default Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon Owners/Fan Club

The purpose of this thread is to discuss and share views regarding Daihatsu boon/Toyota passo and to provide a common platform for the owners and potential buyers to discuss the car.
Passo/Boon has become quite popular in the last 2 or 3 months. People are getting curious to know about this car which offers better features than the overpriced 1000cc vitz in a better price tag. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. Realistic advices on prices regarding the condition and model of car will be provided.

Its normal, my passo does the same, when you will start it in morning, the first 1-2 seconds will be for viberation then the auto choke starts to function (resulting in rpm increasing) which will be there for maybe 5 - 10 seconds or more then the rpm will come to normal. Always leave your car for 2 min in the morning after start up for this purpose. If you dont drive your car for a week then when you start it the auto choke will take about 15 seconds or more (since the engine is cold).

yesterday i changed my Passo's Front Brake Pads and got a HUGE shock ... the story goes like this...
i have been looking for genuine Brake pads for my passo for like 2 months and on 5th February finally got them from a friend who imported them for me any how he brought two different sets and asked me to bring the installed one as a sample so that he can give me the one that fit in my car..
i did the same and when i handed over my installed break pads to him he said they are not genuine have you changed them i was in shock as this was the first time that i was going to change brake pads i said no these are the one which came with the car, he took the pads and check them in a machine which said made in taiwan non-genuine toyota part

he further said the dealers aka stealers change most of the parts with non genuine and same has been done with your brake pads thats why they got hard in just 10 months of running..

the point of telling this is that we should check each and everything before buying these JDMs from the stealers of Karachi and its better to import one directly

Guys beware of such scams and do check each and every part of the car before buying

Guys my boon has started to knock a bit since a few days. Previously there was no knocking. What could be the reason and any remedies apart from high octane. Plugs? Throttle body?

Its mostly the hi octane that solves it. Thats what Ive heard atleast from people. But if you feel the pick being reduced too then get tou catalytic converter checked.

I already own the jdm alto wanted to upgrade to passo 2011 onward model. A friend of mine has recently got the vitz 2011 model and the overall fuel average is 17.8 km/l as per the odo meter as well as the manual calculation. I want to clarify that what would be the fuel average of pasoo 2011 onwads as both pasoo and vitz (new shape) have same engine and transmission.....

Hi-octane is diminishing the knock but previously i felt no knocking on simple fuel as well so something is causing this.

Cat converter was removed by previous owner.

    Your engine oil ??
Fuel that you use ?? Hi-Octane mix ??
Was this with or without AC?
Does your car have the eco idle option ??
