Default Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon Owners/Fan Club

The purpose of this thread is to discuss and share views regarding Daihatsu boon/Toyota passo and to provide a common platform for the owners and potential buyers to discuss the car.
Passo/Boon has become quite popular in the last 2 or 3 months. People are getting curious to know about this car which offers better features than the overpriced 1000cc vitz in a better price tag. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. Realistic advices on prices regarding the condition and model of car will be provided.

Passo/Vitz or any auto car with up to 1000cc engine has less pick, so its normal..
    Even aqua has pick issue...
    ...
Suspension work including change of bushes at steering end and press chimtay will cost 3500-4000 approx...

Initial a bit louder sound in 1kr is normal especially when the engine is cold
    ...
    Tips are
    1. Move the car after 5-7 min of idling in morning
    2. Use good oil, LM 5w30 decreases engine sound to an extent

Thanks for your reply, but the noise comes every time in start of travel even when I stop at signal, as I have gone to some Mechanic but they didn't understand as it is not any mounting voice.

    - Idle engine sound is extremely smooth/quite and at one point I thought engine is off. Before oil change engine sound was like it's struggling a lot to push the engine oil through it pathways, especially at cold start.
    - Local millage has increased drastically i.e 16 km/l to 17 km/l with AC. Before oil change I was getting 13km/l to 14.6km/l.
    - Car pick has increased quite noticeably.
    - On long the millage has an increase of 1-2km/l. Before oil change I was getting 19-20km/l with AC using light foot. Now driving from Mardan to Islamabad motorway exit I got 20-23km/l with AC and 3 persons on board.
    - At cold start the engine reaches it's optimum performance level very quickly and engine become stable within 30 seconds.

I have poured Kixx Neo 0W-20 (4L Tin Pack). Though my Passo needed 3L and I have been charged Rs:2100 for 3L oil. Following are few mileage pics and oil tin pack.

Brother, you will ruin your engine as the second number 20 represents the upper viscosity which is too low for our climate here in Pakistan. I will advice you to change to 0W30 or 5W30 at the earliest to prevent your engine from further wear and tear.

These Cars are normally have reversed meters when came from Japan. So its mileage might be more, thats y thinner oil is getting sucked by engine rings now. Use one step or two step thicker oil now. Nothing need to be done further. If using 5W-30 then shift to 10W-40 or 20W-50. Toyota Petron Multigrade is better in these grades. Try them. And change Engine oil after 3000 Kms average.
Never underEstimate anyone. Might be a charade has a v8 in his heart.

No. Totally Baseless talk. Fuel impurity causes knocking issue. Not oil Reduction in Engine. Use thicker Grade Oil else this will lead u to change the Engine or Overhaul.

Guys, with excess mileage on odometer, a vehicle does consume oil which is absolutely normal if within limits.

Later on with more mileage on the odometer, the oil consumption increases to an extent that engine top overhauling or major overhauling is required.

1 liter of engine oil consumption every 1000 to 1200 KM is normal. Any thing beyond this requires engine overhaul at the earliest. Using thicker oil to reduce oil consumption is just a temporary solution.

    Thanks, that was so helpful

I think mine reduces 1ltr after 3000 km so it is normal

I decided to use same oil and not the thicker one
I will top it up after 2000 km and so

Thicker oil will effect fuel consumption and also car's performance which i don't want.

For me i think Zic A+ 5w20 is best with original oil and air filter

It is 2000 rs for 3 ltr and it also has 1ltr pack from which i can top it up when ever i want.

    Any suggestions on that?

All Vitz owners, do not go below 0w30 or 5w30.

0w20 or 5w20 is not for our country as during sunmmer the temperature sore to 43+ degrees. So use 5w30 at all times. Now when the vehicle starts consuming oil and increases over a period of time you may shift to 5w40. This 5w40 is the most upper limit for Vitz vehicles.

20W50 will ruin your engine and is not recommended at any stage of vehicle mileage.

5w30 is not available in Zic

    Which oil to get then?

Other then liquie moly b/c it is little expensive
