Default Best Engine Oil for Toyota Passo ( 1KR-FE)

    Salam,

I have recently bought toyota Passo and really enjoying it . Although its fuel average is awesome but for my satisfaction i want to change its Engine oil , Oil Filter , Air Filter , Transmission Oil.

Please provide guidance against the following mentioned questions.

Which oil is best for 1KR-FE engine ?
Any good Mechanic here in Islamabad and Rawalpindi ?
Best Fuel Station in Islamabad ?
Parts like Oil filter , Air Filter and Brake Pads for Passo have any similarity with Vitz Parts ?
Any one have user manual/ Repair Manual of toyota Passo or 1KR-FE engine ?

Kindly guide me in this Regard .

    Thankx...

    Bilal Ahmed

If engine in good condition then use 0W-30, 5W-30, or 10W-30 viscosity engine oil.

great thread of informations here. thanks everyone who has contributed so far.

now, i've recently bought this Passo 1KR-FE (VVT-I) 2008 Model.
and my personal results (based on last 3 months) are as follows

Without A/C = 14.5 Km / Liter within Lahore city, subject to traffic jams.
With A/C = 12.2 Km / Liter within Lahore city, subject to traffic jams.

Without A/C = 21.1 Km / Liter on highway (I usually travel from Lahore to Faisalabad through motorway)
With A/C = 18.9 Km / Liter on highway (from Lahore to Faisalabad & return through motorway).

    Tips:
Do not push the accelerator too much. because high RPMs of Engine consumes more fuel.
At-least once in a month, try to drive the full tank on "high octane". It will increase average min. 1.5~2 km/Liter.
or, try Half tank with normal petrol and half tank with high Octane. It will increase the average min. 1 km/liter. and also good for Engin's health.

    @BIlal,

Always use "Synthetic oil" normally the golden color packs and original Toyota oil filter @ 5000kms.
Please under stand that oil fiter is the most critical part, it has a by-pass system which is designed specifically for each engine.

For example, Corolla & Altis have look alike oil & air filters, but different part nos. So please be sure you are using the correct part.

Take care and you will not regret.

Brother Toyota genuine T-iV AT oil is best.

Toyota genuine engine oil and OEM air and oil filter could also be find with authorized toyota dealers and are best for your car.

Surprise, why so low average on Passo at the long routes?

    Would you mind sharing
    Which Engine oil & Viscosity?
    Transmission oil?
    Tire width & air pressure.

I seriously expect some odd combination of oils will be there that?s causing such low average.
My previous post to this threads shows the actual averages of my sweet hear (Passo 2008)

Presently I feel best available filters are from Leepon. And most importantly these are 4 times cheaper than what Toyota is actually charging.

Leepon air filter for Passo 1Kr-Fe is Rs. 370/-
Leepon oil filter for Passo 1Kr-Fe is Rs. 250/-

Many local companies start making leepon's filters and selling even cheaper. So be careful and buy only Leepon's Malaysian products.

Brother always use Caltex Havoline or Shell lubricants from company owned pumps list on website and would be 100% genuine.

Havoline is excellent oil same as made by Chevron in US.

Not as good as Shell Helix Ultra but costs much less.

1.Passo has CVT engine so use CVT Transmission oil(Toyota) and not AT oil
    2. I am using zic A+ (5w-20w)
    3. Better get original Air & Fuel Filter(Available in market)
I assume CVT engine sound louder compared to AT on idle? Correct me if I am wrong.

Only the Passo of model 2010 and latest has CVT. Before models are AT.
I had the same mistake too. Mine is 2008 and I considered it as CVT and poured CVT oil. And after more than 6 months I knew that its AT.
(Ofcoarse we learn from our mistakes).
And yes recommended for Passo 1Kr-FE is 0/20 for best fuel economy or 5/20 & 5/30. But yet lot of people keep pouring Toyota's petron which is 20/50 and is not recommended for it.

    Dear All,

In Karachi almost all genuine parts of PASSO and VITZ are available at Japan Autos Plaza except body. if there is anything they don't have they give you time for delivery and call it over from dubai or any where. so dont worry if you have passo every thing is available.

what i usually do with my HANA PLUS PASSO, i give it for periodic maintenance to Toyota 3S and inform them that Oil, Oil Filter, and Air filter will not be changed this i will do on my own and rest they do like Replacement of Coolant, Belts, Break Pads etc, i bought the Toyota JAPAN Genuine Engine Oil, Genuine Air Filter, and Genuine Oil Filter from JAPAN AUTOS PLAZA and replaced on my own after getting the 30,000 km maintenance services from TOYOTA WESTERN MOTORS Shershah. Local Toyota Oil is useful for 5000 km while the Japanese Toyota Oil is for 10,000 km (Big Difference.) Total Came to 11,000/- for all stuff (Services + Parts+My purchased stuff)

I will highly recommend all passo owners to use Toyota Japan Genuine parts available at Malik Autos and Japan Autos. Original air filter I bought for 1500, oil filter for 500 and 4 litre oil cane costed me 3000 useful for 10000km. Please save giving gst to sindh government as our roads, bridges, lanes are showing the bright example of kachra kundis no cleaning and development in the city.
