Default Here are recommended oils for 1KR-FE & 1NR-FE

Firstly a big thank to the gentleman who sent me complete manual of Toyota Passo by email. Am really thank full to him.

Here is what they recommend in the manual.

    1KR-FE (1000 CC engine) 0W-20
    1NR-FE (1300 CC engine) 5W-30

They repeatedly mentioned in the manual that for "BEST FUEL CONSUMPTION" feed 1KR-FE with 0/20 oil. it will give the best mileage.

I know hundreds of Vitz are out there and people are pouring 20/50 oil and changing after 3K.
Moreover I've checked with LM's head office in Germany and here is the min. & max. range of the oils we can feed to 1KR-FE.

    Minimum 0W-20
    Maximum 5W-40

These cars will ideally work in above oil range.
So technically these engines will "not work ideally" if we will feed them 10/30, 10/40, 15/40, 20/50 etc. oils.

Presently Kixx G1 (Tin pack) is 0/20. Price 2800/4L. SCI is 5~6K. Just forget either its summer or winter, if you want to save on fuel consumption, then 0/20 is the best choice.

If anyone need the manual, write your email here. Its 8MB file and I'll send once to all.
    No Guts, No Glory.

    Cheers
    Go for 5w20

That's fine, do not go below this viscosity you will ruin your engine, as our environment in Pakistan is not meant to go for 0W20 or 5W25 oil. Stick to 5W30 or 0W30. You can also use 0W40 or 5W40 once you have clocked 150,000 + on the odometer.

    No…

Because if 5w-20 is ruining engine’s life here in PK because of high temperatures, then almost 25% cars on all PK who are using ZIC A+ (5w-20) since last many years, would have piled up in junk yards.
Here every 3rd or 4th Car is using ZIC A+ 5w-30 and this oil is strongly dominating among all the others oils. I saw people using 5w-20 (zic a+) in Bolan, Mehran, Alto, even in Cd70, Cg125, and many other vehicles where this specs oil is not recommended at all. But still if ZIC is surviving in PK, is because of their most popular and dominating oil ZIC A+ 5w-20.

I am using it in my 25 years old car. Toyota Crown with 3000cc Engine clocked 355K till now. And I shift it to ZIC A+ 5w-20.
Plz don’t tell me this is not suitable for my vehicle in summer due to high temperatures, etc. etc.

I had given an advise earlier to stick with 5W30 or 0W40 or 5W40.

Who am I to force you guys using 5W20 or 0W20. It's your choice brother, I had just given you an advice. Thanks.

    Excellent performance I must say.
For extreme performance, go for liqui moly 5w30

These JDMs work excellent on low viscos oils like 0w-20, 5w-20, 0w-30.
You may try to feel the difference.

I highly recommend Ow-20 or 5W-20 for 1KR engine as it's Toyota recommended for best permanence and high mileage. I have 2014 model Passo and I am using Kixx 0W-20 Tin Pack fully synthetic oil. It's performance, pick, mileage and drive everything is awesome. I am getting 19-21 with AC at motorway with a speed limit of 110KM/H and 3 persons on board. Local I am getting 15 to 16 with AC and speed range of 30-60km/h.

There is a myth among auto community, that never use OW-20 or 5W-20 oil for Passo. It's very thin and it will damage the engine during extreme heat of our summer season. But I have used OW-20 oil throughout this summer with consistent AC, long drive, local and my engine performed awesome.

As per my practical experience I highly recommend to use OW-20(KIXX NEO TIN) or 5W-20(ZIC A+) fully synthetic engine oils.

My car was driven 5000km in Japan So I never recommend to use oils higher than OW-20 or OW-30 grad for cars driven less than 100,000KM. After than one can use 5w-30.
Even after 100K you may keep using these low viscos oils and it will keep engine healthy.
I am using ZIC A+ 5w-20 in my 1991 model car 350K driven and its absolutely fine.
