Default Here are recommended oils for 1KR-FE & 1NR-FE

Firstly a big thank to the gentleman who sent me complete manual of Toyota Passo by email. Am really thank full to him.

Here is what they recommend in the manual.

    1KR-FE (1000 CC engine) 0W-20
    1NR-FE (1300 CC engine) 5W-30

They repeatedly mentioned in the manual that for "BEST FUEL CONSUMPTION" feed 1KR-FE with 0/20 oil. it will give the best mileage.

I know hundreds of Vitz are out there and people are pouring 20/50 oil and changing after 3K.
Moreover I've checked with LM's head office in Germany and here is the min. & max. range of the oils we can feed to 1KR-FE.

    Minimum 0W-20
    Maximum 5W-40

These cars will ideally work in above oil range.
So technically these engines will "not work ideally" if we will feed them 10/30, 10/40, 15/40, 20/50 etc. oils.

Presently Kixx G1 (Tin pack) is 0/20. Price 2800/4L. SCI is 5~6K. Just forget either its summer or winter, if you want to save on fuel consumption, then 0/20 is the best choice.

If anyone need the manual, write your email here. Its 8MB file and I'll send once to all.
    No Guts, No Glory.

Hence with oil filter the oil capacity is 3.4L or say 3.5L.
So have to buy 4L bottle and keep half liter.
The manual says 2.9 L without filter and 3.1 with filter.

Anyways, i have changed to oil last night and poured 3.5 litres. Is there any risk with over filling? any idea?

I was also bit surprised to read the same.
But let me share with you a little story.
Once I poured only 3L in the engine with oil filter and check the dipstick. Dipstick shows full.
I idle the car for some time and again checked. Same results. Means full.
Then I poured half liter more and guess what? dipstick was still showing the full. Not Over Full or something like that. Just showing full.
After driving couple of KM, I checked again and it was still showing full.

Anyway, the difference between 3.5L & 3.1L is 0.4L and I personally believe it still comes in the tolerance limit and doesn't exceed.

Well I think 3.5L quantity of engine oil (with filter) will not be harmful.
How about the gear oil/transmission fluid? I poured full 4L gear oil in it. Whereas manual says something weird. Could you also check/re-read to know the exact quantity of gear oil/transmission fluid they recommends.

The manual states it to be 5.8 Litres.
But remember that this manual is for CVT transmission whereas my car has non-CVT transmission and i beleive yours is same as well.

Yesterday I just change the oil filter of my car which has done 4K since last change.
But yet am keep running LM5/40 hi-tech and yet it looks in pretty good condition.

Though I had the 0.5L left over since last change, but after filter change I checked with the dip stick and it was showing full. When the oil filter was opened, some oil came out with it and I thought to top it up with my left over stock. But as the dip stick was still showing full, so I didn’t pour the more oil in it.

    Just an update to share.

am intended to run this LM 5/40 Hi-Tech till 8K and hence changing oil filter in the mid way is always good for better performance unless one is using very hi-fi quality filters.

Well technically there is no big difference in 0/20 or 5/20.

LM has 0/20 but its not yet in Pak.
Kixx has 0/20 price already mentioned above.
Profi Car has 5/20. Price is ~2800/4L.
ZIC A+ is also 2/20. Price is ~2650/4L.

    Choice is yours.

Brother 0W grades are not for Pakistan not in summer in KHi.

Use Genuine Toyota 5W30 Synthetic oil 1L X 3 packs with genuine Toyota Filter.
