Default Here are recommended oils for 1KR-FE & 1NR-FE

Firstly a big thank to the gentleman who sent me complete manual of Toyota Passo by email. Am really thank full to him.

Here is what they recommend in the manual.

    1KR-FE (1000 CC engine) 0W-20
    1NR-FE (1300 CC engine) 5W-30

They repeatedly mentioned in the manual that for "BEST FUEL CONSUMPTION" feed 1KR-FE with 0/20 oil. it will give the best mileage.

I know hundreds of Vitz are out there and people are pouring 20/50 oil and changing after 3K.
Moreover I've checked with LM's head office in Germany and here is the min. & max. range of the oils we can feed to 1KR-FE.

    Minimum 0W-20
    Maximum 5W-40

These cars will ideally work in above oil range.
So technically these engines will "not work ideally" if we will feed them 10/30, 10/40, 15/40, 20/50 etc. oils.

Presently Kixx G1 (Tin pack) is 0/20. Price 2800/4L. SCI is 5~6K. Just forget either its summer or winter, if you want to save on fuel consumption, then 0/20 is the best choice.

If anyone need the manual, write your email here. Its 8MB file and I'll send once to all.
    No Guts, No Glory.

Kindly advise in this case and also confirm the best engine oil for better mileage.

    Thanks
    Its CVT or AT ?

If its CVT, then its fuel average should be 16~17 km/L.
And if its AT, then 12~13 km/L.

What engine oil & gear oil you have poured? But first, knowing about the transmissions (CVT or AT) is important.
    Which year model is this?

These are options in case the previous options are unavailable. They will give slightly lower power and fuel economy, however.

Never feed your car (1KR-FE) with such heavy engine oil like 20w-50.
Company is actually recommending 0w-20 which is the most lightest engine oil in the market. But you are feeding very heavy oil.

You may have two best options
    1. ZIC OW which is 0w-30 and can change it after ~6K.
    2. ZIC A+ which is 5w-20 and can change it after ~6K.

Both of these oils will give you best fuel economy.

The gear oil is perfect. Yes it needs T-IV. But if you already drove like 40~50K on this oil, then replace it with same oil again.

Please note that the total driven mileage of my car is 72,000, will you still suggest to use Zic a fully synthetic oil?
Will it be suitable for engine life or not? i doubt that using a fully synthetic oil on this mileage will be harming the ring pistons and after certain time will give white smoke?

    Thanks

are you sure your 2007 is auto not cvt? because 2007 with 1kr fe only came with CVT unless 4WD model. is yours 4WD?

EDIT: didn't read the post properly thought vitz was in discussion, you have a passo so its regular automatic, move on

Don't be much doubtful. Otherwise you can never be satisfied about your ride or its workings.
I didn't said to use ZIC A for your car either and neither ZIC A is fully synthetic.

Choose ZIC OW (OW-30) or ZIC A+ (5w-20).
Your car is just 72K driven and nothing will happen harmful if you've not poured the really bad quality oils in it.

And once you use ZIC OW or A+, then you will feel by yourself that it was the right choice for your engine and all the previous oils you've choosen were not compatible infact.

Just a quick question..... Is the shell helix Ultra (5W-30) and Helix HX-7 (5W-30) good choices for the 1kr-fe? Just bought a vitz with the same engine and taking the car for a complete service.

Also what coolant is to be used? Genuine Toyota? Any serial number?

Also Email me the manual please: mustafa.rauf1989@hotmail.com

Well recently I’ve got to known to the fact that weather does matters.

Because if Car is produced in Japan, then they will recommend 0w-20
If same car is export to Europe, then oil recommendation will be same.
If Japanese export same car to Pak/India, then they will recommend 10w-30 or 5w-40
If they export same car to countries who have more hot weathers like Sudan, Nigeria, etc., then they will recommend 10w-40 or 20w-50

Hence, for Pak. in summer/winter, i think 5w-30 or 5w-40 would do best for all year round use.
Lets say what other experts say.

it would work, but hurt fuel economy and responsiveness, 5W-30 is completely fine.
