Or just get the rear drive shaft removed :p
And this happens on a serious note dealers remove those to sell them as fwd cars as 4wd are heavy on fuel...the logis is simple the car will recquire less power to move two wheels rather than 4

Yes it is a fact that removing the shaft will not make any improvement in fuel economy. I did the same in my passo hana but found no difference of fuel consumption, so re installed it back. The grip and stability is however improved with 4WD shaft.

My 4WD Passo is giving me 14km/l on long and around 9.5 to 10.5 km/l in city now a days with full time AC. However i have seen that if air filter is cleaned, car is serviced and tyre pressure is 30psi, then city average increases to 11.5 to 12 km/l.
4WD will have definitely high fuel consumption as compared to 2WD.

The 4wd models are not fuel efficient.
Do the basic checkups as advised by hashu4u.
If you do not find any difference in mileage, then simply sell this model and buy the other 2WD model who confirmedly give better fuel consumption for sure.
The amendments (removing 4WD shaft) is not recommended though.

Good to knw that brother. This is very good way and alot of ppl facing this average issue. Simple, without going into throttle body or catalytic converter cleaning.
