Default Imported Hybrid Cars in Lahore, Toyota Prius ?

    Hi ,

I have seen now 3,4 Toyota Prius running on roads of Lahore so it means dealers are importing these cars from Japan and people are buying them too...
so my questions is that as this car is a Hybrid so are the mechanics for this car available in Lahore and also its spare parts ?

    Thanks,
    Maverick

they are only worth buying if you have a proper dealership that can service it properly. The job risks for the mechanics are high too.

anyway - a person in Karachi had a Prius which he converted to CNG, and the AWESOMELY STUPID CNG mechanic had a hard time rigging it but he did. So the drive cycle was

sit - push button, ready - Drive - 35 km/h engine start,,,, - convert to CNG - drive - stop. drive, engine start on petrol then convert to CNG. - his Prius had issues as the CNG engine could not produce enough torque to run MG1 in the transmission as the system was expecting - it went into "clumsy mode"...
Sometimes i think we have become so much slaves to CNG that we dont even calculate, that we end up paying more at the end of the day but still.

People when planning to buya car have set up a budget, itne ki garri 50,000 CNG ke.

They take out the car out off the showroom and fix CNG init. Saying 10,000km bad be lagani hai abi lagado.

Duh atleast do your maths before going into CNG, Our idiot mechanics fit the same kit in a 1.8 Corolla with Advancer emulator as they put into a mehran.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

the car is giving 39 to 44 kms.
when u drive below 2k rpm petrol is not used the power from the battery goes to the engine hence saving alot of fuel.

hybrid are not bad cars at all they drive well very economical and its not like how often does one takes his 2007 low milage civic to workshop? its not like it will brake down once its in Pakistan straight away. The vitz came and now other numerous other newer model have entered Pakistan market and they are running so same is with civic hybrids. Rx8 is still on the road and so will be hybrids.

^^ the RX8s you mention are now running piston engines and similarly the hybrids will be running some other engine because the atkinson cycle engines, the electric CVT and the high voltage battery pack are alien to "ustaad jee"

maybe one day battery packs also come in junk
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

Why would you put CNG in Prius? I must say mechanic is not at fault, its the Prius owner making wrong decision.

No offence but I personally think if you prefer to drive the car below an 2k rpm in order to save petrol, a better option is buy a bicycle instead because you will be spending around 3k in buying a new one(zero meter one) and will be going on the same speed and wont have to spend $ on the battery.

I have sold quite a few civic hybids since april have now 6 civic hybrids heading to Islamabad already sold 3 so have 3 left, the sports mode on these babies are just gr8 its drives well its fuel efficent, ?600 for a replacement battery from honda parts and engines are ready available in Pak engines cost around Rs70,000 these cars go up to 300,000miles on single battery life according to honda UK check there website and even talk online to one of there service ppl, its a win win for the buyer. stick to cng lines and pathetic fuel economy from ur local civics and corolla or get the full option hybrid with airbags, fuel economy is it stupid to think tht the merc s500 is hybrid now, makers such as lexus, toyota, porsche even are giving hybrids cars these are future u dont compromise on speed and luxury, unfortunately Pakistani have to understand these cars to get them. where looking around u every make and model are around u never heard of and mechanic have become hi-tech with the new breed of workshop mechanics out there the ustad era with dingy looking workshop is coming to an end. Pakistani mechanic I believe are the best and hybrids is no rocket science to understand. I have not heard of one person who has bought a civic hybrid and complained about it!

Bro your right in what you say..but bad repairs lead to death...these owners aren't complaining know..when time comes there going to have problems...if it was just battery's ..ok change them..job done back on road...what if the electric motor fail...wiring goes wrong..ecu fails ..dash fails..there are hundreds do components ..connected to the hybrid system..Honda and Toyota haven't released any techs on these cars..or software .. So how can these owner fix these cars...when they go wrong ..which they will..??? Hybrid cars are great..I've owned both. Honda and Toyota ..great to drive..a pleasure to own...I sold both of them ...why...?? Because they came to end of there dealer warrantys 3 years...1500 for battery's ..1000 to 2000 for. A motor...100 ..a hour labour..no short cuts ...do it your self.. Anybody buying a hybrid..out of warranty ..should know what's comeing...
    Pakistan.. Toyota hilux..golf mk2 gtd..rolla 2.0d..nissian sunny.. Yamaha pw 50.. Coventry uk....audi v8 d11..golf mk2 rallye..honda crx..evo 8..golf mk2 gtd..Vauxhall insignia..
