Bro practice.. It involves hypermilling aswell.
Try and control your accelerator pressing using the Mileage meter. Soon u ll realize that a slight change in the force applied with your foot can change your mileage. So try and practice the optimum accelerator pressing force.
Moreover, coast alot.. Keep an eye on traffic so u use minimum breaks and accelerate smoothly.

I know it sounds boring but soon it becomes like a game once you get the hang of it

In our 1.5 2010 prius , am using toyota's imported engine oil 5w30
And 1.8 2012 ko chalate hoye week howa hai, will change engine oil this weekend.
But will be looking out for a 0w20 oil. Cx no matter what people say, that oil works best.

I use liqui moly 5w30 in my passo. Its a great oil. If i dont find a 0w20 one, will go for it.

Don't change the engine oil viscosity.
0w40 theek oil hai for your car.
Try mixing Hi Octane in your car and drive like i tried to explain.
18-20 km/ltr is normal for this car (keep in mind its still a 1800cc vehicle)

The true potential of a Prius can't be unlocked without a scangauge / ultragauge or something similar. It's highway sweet spot is at TPS 18/ ignition advance (IGN) 14. This is informally called the 'Super Highway Mode'.

There's another technique called Warp Stealth; the engine is in fuel cut, but the electric motor is spinning the ICE to prevent engine braking. When combined with the HS P&G technique, this is the best way to gain fuel economy on the highway.

BTW, 17-18 is very low for a Prius. I got that with mild hypermiling in my 270k driven car. If it was maintained better, and I had a scangauge, 21-22 was very much possible. Keep in mind that I'm talking about a non-hybrid 1600cc engine.

The parts in bold are the main points.

In simple words, there are two hidden driving modes in the Prius. Hypermilers call them "SHM (Super Highway Mode)", and "Warp Stealth".

    SHM:
*Note: just for the sake of this mode, a scangauge/ultragauge/torque app is highly worth it.

On the scangauge/ultragauge/ Torque app, hold the IGN reading between 13-15. You can hold between 26-38 kml depending on your speed; the higher, the better. Usually, this mode works up to 100 km/h. Even A/C use won't reduce this too much, but it might limit your top speed in SHM.

    Warp Stealth:
As you know, the all electric mode doesn't work above 65 km/h. There is a work around. On the device, hold exactly TPS 14. The engine will stop using fuel, but there will be no engine braking. Vary your speed between 65 and 90; accelerate at 18 TPS, glide at 14 TPS. (Just like like a standard pulse and glide, but at higher speeds than 65 km/h). You can even use A/C during acceleration; it will have minimal impact on the fuel economy.

Wish I had a Prius and a Scangauge; its almost unbearable, knowing these techniques but not having the tools to apply them .

By the way, the above mentioned are highway specific techniques. For city use, pulse and glide is hands down the best.

I am just a few hours away from buying a T Spirit UK import 1.8 Prius. And I did not know that there is a heat up issue with this car. Can you please confirm it exists?

    NICE!!

Highway drives are rare for us. But in city we do the pulse and glide works like a charm
