I heard Toyota is preparing to bring Prius to Pakistan. Sometime later this year or early next year.

My apologies. I did miss the "0" and i think $2500 batteries would be for the new prius. And i read the article quoted above. It mentions problem in usa produced prius whil in pakistan prius being sold are imported from uk or japan. Plus honda also withdrew around a million civics from its American and Canadian market, does that mean i should stop buying civic in pakistan?

coming to hybrid cars i bet each and every single work is being done here by specialised mechanic but as he knows nothing of pakistan so he believes that pakistan mechanics cant do nothing

I lived in Pakistan for nearly all my life, worked on cars in Pakistan, FYI - I was one of the people such car owners contacted in Pakistan when parts/services were needed (really good money for me) - after when their favorite mechanic had done their "haath ki safaayi" on them.

Its not a new phenomenon, its pretty old now. There have been many cases of "unique" cars being imported in Pakistan and all of them have suffered - it is partly due to the available knowledge base and partly due to the owner wanting to shortcut everything to spend less on running.

It goes way back - accordingly told to me by old timers that even in the 50s with the armstrong siddleys with the preselect gearboxes - those cars worked till they were good, then they were trashed due to lack of support in parts and service. What you have is a car that requires updated dealer support to properly perform work on the car.

Im not against hybrids, I am against the orphan auction cars from Japan, their downtime/service ratio is terrible as if you need some complex job on it - you have to order and wait for parts to arrive and hope that the mechanic knows the correct procedures, tolerances and fastener torque specifications as their local support is nil and you hope you dont get a bad new part as you would have to run through hoops and customs to get it returned. For me not knowing Pakistan, you yourself can see lathe machinists grind off valve stems, lap shims etc to set clearances without giving a damn that they are case hardened parts. You yourself can witness "general overhaul at 50,000 kms" because mechanics say its weak without actually diagnosing it.

Now if you claim that I know nothing of Pakistan - then thats your choice - doesnt affect me.

If im in Pakistan and Indus motors announces that they will sell, warrant and service toyota hybrids, I will buy it, and sell it right at the end of its warranty period. WHY? my elder brother in UK had a lexus RX400h - it ran out of warranty and he needed a repair on it. The costs were astronomical to say the least.

i am not pin pointing out that you dont know anything you might know each and every thing but believing thats its only you who knows everything is wrong
coming to mechanics yes i might not say that we have a mechanic for bugatti here bcs it would be hell rear car here but yes now cars like JDM vehicle are just same like PKDM eg axio, fielder, premio etc
now about hybrid cars like prius, civic, insight yes we do have mechanics and machines to tackle them all the computer scanners etc are now in pakistan.you see some issue just go and get the scanner and it will be figuring out what the problem is whether any replacement of part needed or what so ever the mechanics will do it
few more shops like Karigar etc are opening who are supplying customers with parts of any vehicle
I do it because i can, I can because I want to, I want to because you said I couldn't =)

There is more to reparing than reading a scanner and fitting parts. As I said before - regular build cars in Pakistan are otto engine small econo sedans made by toyota, honda, nissan, suzuki and mitsubishi - all axio, premio, corolla, X otti, boon, move, passo, alto, mira, etc etc. follow very basically the same procedure. Cars such as your Prius does not. If your point were completely correct you would still see the MB sprinter vans used in ambulances and not rotting due to lack of support.

Anyways somehow you guys driving such cars are good business for me as I usually end up with a nice chunk of money every 3 months.

After much deliberation, research and double-minded wows, Alhamdolilah I have finally bought a 07 prius today. says its a 4.5/a grade on the auction sheet(have no way verify it though) sure feels & smells like a new car (clocked a t 28K KM)

Have seen a lot of concerns and questions regarding good mechanics and availability of parts. Have done a bit of research and can recommend 2 work shops (who know the hybrids well and can provide new and used parts at fair prices)

1- INH motors near LHR Airport (the road that connect the new air port road and Zarrar Shaheed rd.
2- Suntech Autos LhR (peco road and the second outlet off guru mangat road near Hico Factory/Dawn News Paper office)

Please share if any one can recommend more in Lahore or other cities.

    @bilalalam,

This is "Prius Fan Club" thread, so basic idea should be to share information and educate all members instead of greetings etc.
