It looks like 2010 model and onwards are effected by this. Here is page from Toyota Japan site, which can be translated with Google for more info:

    toyota.jp ?A?t?^?[?T?[?r?X ?b ???R?[???????? ?b 2014?N ?b ?v???E?X(ZVW30)????R?[??

The effected vehicle chassis numbers of Japan are:

    ZVW30-1000000 ~ ZVW30-1795341
    ZVW30-5000004 ~ ZVW30-5740951
    ZVW30-0052877 ~ ZVW30-0333134

You can simply enter your chassis no. on this page and find out if yours is effected by this:

    ?g???^????T?C?g | ???R?[?????????????????

I wonder if they can update and solve the issue locally in Toyota 3S for JDM 2010 model owners.

    Info from Toyota USA:

Toyota will update the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU software on certain Model Year 2010-2014 Prius vehicles.

The software’s current settings could result in higher thermal stress in certain transistors, potentially causing them to become damaged. If this happens, various warning lights will illuminate and the vehicle can enter a failsafe mode. In rare circumstances, the hybrid system might shut down while the vehicle is being driven, resulting in the loss of power and the vehicle coming to a stop.

i believe local maps cannot be installed in the built in MFD. Alternately you can buy a portable GPS device. I came across one at 7' Car GPS Devices With Pakistan Map - Buy Other Cars in Pakistan
    GPS Navigational Maps for Pakistan
Buy GPS in Pakistan Navigator in Islamabad Garmin in Lahore - Garmin.pk Garmin in Pakistan
Drive carefully! Remember, it's not only a car that can be recalled by it's maker.

TPL traker is best I am using their portable device and it's quite good. I have also used Garmin and Garmin's display and build quality of devices is top notch.

Salam everyone... I hope you are all doing well..

I recently sold my father's Honda City to upgrade to Honda Insight... After a market survey and people's suggestions, we decided to look for a prius.

Now, in Islamabad a 70k driven not so option-full car (2nd Gen) was in the price bracket of 19 to 19.75 lakh which was ridiculous. My dad was angryat the same time as he was not willing to sell the car at the time because of the complications we might have to face in buying a used car.

Anyway, my father went on a tour to Multan where he met a colleague who had recently purchased a 3rd Gen Prius (Probably S). My dad had the opportunity to drive and examine the car for the first time and he fell in love with it. Next think I know he calls me up to say that he wants to get the 3 rd Gen.

After doing some research online and a market survey I have found that a good Prius (G) with cruise, and led lights will cost about 26 lakh.

    Is the price quoted accurate?

We are willing to travel to Lahore for an original car with auction sheet.

Anyone can help me here as I seriously can't wait for a Prius in the family..

Waiting anxiously for the response of this wonderful club...

    Cheers...
Driving is not about going from point A to point B, it is the point...

Confirm/verify the auction sheet. Also look for mileage in "EXPORT CERTIFICATE". It will all be in Japanese but the mileage will be in regular digits. I am forgetting right now whether the mileage in "EXPORT CERTIFICATE" is of last inspection performed by the Japan Transportation Authority (happens every 3 years in Japan?) or at the time of export but still, you will have an idea if the meter was reversed.

I just had an extended test drive of Toyota Prius over 3 days, and though I would let other know what I thought:

    [B]MPG/Average
I mostly drove in city, and got around 62 MPG (which is around 21.95 km/l !!). The car constantly switches from full electric to hybrid to full power when and as you need it. This was really good, and has convinced me that with the kinds of miles I do every year, this will have to be my next car.

    Power & Handling
I had previously driven a Honda Civic Hybrid (07) and was seriously disappointed. The civic hybrid had handling like a Mehran (honestly), with thin tires, underpowered and a lot of over street in corners. With this trepidation in my mind, I must say the Prius (2011 model, 1.8) had lots of power, and the handling in corners was really spot on. I was much more impressed with the power of the new 1.8 as compared to the previous 1.5.

    Comfort:
The front seats really good. But I must admit that the space in the back was a bit limited. Otherwise the comfort a and ride was really good.

    Specs & Feature
Loved the parallel parking feature, where you leave the steering and it does the job (around 90% of the times it's accurate). Cruise control was good too, and all other feature were fine

Per above note. You are complaining that civic hybrid is like mehran in handling with lots of oversteer. Are you sure your civic was a front wheel drive? If yes your statement is completely WRONG. Frontwheels can not over steer till it gets a hard hit in the back from another car while turning.

You must drive a Honda Insight and its more fun to drive , even when in comparison with prius 1.8 , The reviewers say that prius is a boring car where as Insight is more fun to drive , And at cornering Prius is not good at all mostly the ESP kicks in..!
