Exclamation Engine Oil for Toyota Prius

    Hi Prius Pals
Hope you will be enjoying your Prius. I have had a Prius for the last six months. I had some strange experiences with different Engine Oils. I initially used Shell Helix 10-40 and had excellent pick and a mileage of 25 plus km. The last time I bought Caltex Havoline 10-30 from a major store. Since then my car makes a strange gurgling sound on start(fraction of a second), has a slightly lesser pick and mileage. People had me believe that Havoline is the best engine oil but apparently my experience is on the contrary. Please suggest / comment.

Sir! Toyota Prius Hybrid is the famous fuel efficient car from Toyota since 1997. It runs separately on petrol, separately on electric motor and combined on motor + fuel. Now a days common in pakistan too. For more info, google it.

Toyota recommended 5-30 engine oil for Prius. However, if you have used alternate oil, then you must change it to 5-30 on your next oil change.

I've noticed one thing that all oil dealers even the big ones like Filter House across Lahore will use stupid logics to sell you "slow Moving" items/ oils.

Read these 2 links and you will find all the info you need to know:

Do You Really Need to Use Heavier Oil in Summer? - DIY Auto - Popular Mechanics

Ask Mobil 1 Archive - Hot Weather

and if you need to see which oil grade is best suited for your vehicle use the "oil selector" tool (on top right side of the page)of this Caltex website.

Drive carefully! Remember, it's not only a car that can be recalled by it's maker.
