    Hi,

You can get Kixx Neo 0w-20 easily from any Oil Store which is quite good for Prius in Winters or you can use Zic 0w-30 in summers.

Does it specifically say in your car's manual that 0W-20 is recommended?

From my understanding on this topic, 5W-30 is the recommended oil for a Prius.

Aoa, I have read some where that Toyota oil is recommended for Prius as it contains some special additives. I will try to locate this article and post it. However if I had Prius I would opt for brands like, Mobil 1, Caltex, Total etc.

As regards to viscosity/grade please do read this very informative article; Its on an Australian web site so the recommendations are more logical to Pakistan climate.

I think characteristics are nearly same for 0W & 5W.
however if to choose 0W, then ZIC OW (0-30) can be best choice.

0W and 5W doesnt matter here in Pakistan.. They represent the cold start temperatures. 5w is good for temperatures below 0'c.. So it is of no significance that we use 0w or 5w oils..
Meanwhile the viscosity rating of 20 and 30 is debatable.. Hybrids like prius don't constantly use the engine.. So a thinner oil is recommended.. 20 viscosity grade is hard to find. so 30 might be your choice..

We own a Prius and a Passo. Both recommend 0w20 oils.. I didn't have much info abt oils in the past so i put toyota's 5w30 in the prius.. and it has somewhat affected the drive in a that i dont feel it to be smooth enough and the engine on and off is more louder (but am talking about a little difference) .. but the mileage and all is perfect..

Meanwhile i put 5w30 liqui moly in my Passo and the car is running very smoothly with a slight increase in mileage.

Will like others to share experience regarding use of oil with 20 viscosity.. as m planning to change the prius oil to 0w20 in the next interval..

Sir g I found that only two companies has 0w-20
    Kixx & Profi Car
But its rare to find them in original.
So, I think Idea would be to use ZIC OW 0w-30
Or ZIC A+ which is 5w-20 as second option.
My neighbor has prius. He using zic OW and changing it after 5000km and getting 22-24 km/l average. He travels a lot within the city.

    Oh i see..
Our Prius gives the same average on the toyota oil 5w30.. It makes short frequent trips in the city..

My main concern is the viscosity rating.. 0w or 5w don't have an impact here.

If you ask any lubricant shop owner they talk about Pakistani hot climate and dust factors..
Japan's hotest cities have an average climate of 22'c, whereas we in Karachi get around 30'c..
So this is what confuses me.
Am i harming my car if am using a more viscous oil or not? whats your opinion?
and please ask your neighbour if he felt any change when he first changed the oil when the car came from Japan.

sir an year ago when he imported this prius. And first thing to do was to change the engine oil because it was quite dark. Whereas gear oil was full red.
This time you should try zic ow. Am sure it will be pretty much satisfying.

By the way, here in pak. I have seen people using zic a+ (5w-20) in bolan even in hot summars and was satisfied too. Its not a joke infact, but it make me laugh though. Because Suzuki recommends 10-40 for bolan as min.
