the guy from lube shop says Japanese have different measurements, prius c catalog says its 3.75 lit. According to him its 3.25 liters.
what ever the case, one should check the dip stick, the moment it shows full oil in chamber,no need to fill it more..
it is not a hard and fast to fill up till mark, its a range, the oil should not be below the lower point on stick.

what i have noticed is that when cars come from Japan

usually oil is .25 or .5 litres less than top up level

maybe left for expansion of the fluid

when i got my aqua checked at toyota,it also had less oil in chamber and the reason they gave me was to reduce weight on shipping..dont know how true is this point!!

That logic applies to fuel not oil

Any good mechanic in Lahore to whom i can check my Axio Hybrid 2013 (as engine of Aqua & Axio is same)? The issue is that the car is giving fuel consumption of 14-16 km/l. I have once tunned my car from a well known mechanic in Johar town (he only checked spark plugs, clean, set them). I have also changed its rims (from steel rims to alloy rims) & tyres (from 175-65/R15 to 195-65/R15).

Bilal first of all change the size of your rims and tyres. To the best of my knowledge and what i have learned from various articles from the automobile experts, the recommended Tyre diameter for a 1500cc hybrid car is R14 and R15 both. You have got R15 , dats ok. But the recommended width of the tyres is between 165 to 175mm. Here you've got 195mm which exceeds the recommendation. Wider tyres mean more weight, more road friction and more air resistance, in short more fuel consumption. By simply changing the size of your rims and tyres you'll gain 2-4 Km/l in ur fuel economy. Try it.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viscosity_index
    Read this article
The VI of kixx 0w20 is 167 while total 5w30 is 150. This mean that the Kixx Oil is more stable at different temperatures.
The best oils with the highest VI will remain stable and not vary much in viscosity over the temperature range. This allows for consistent engine performance within the normal working conditions

Brother you are wrong again. I must say u did a nice bit of research. You brought into our knowledge something that we didnt knew about. Viscosity index of Kixx 0w 20 is 167. You are right. But the viscosity index of Total 0w 30 is 177. And that of Total 5w 30 is 171. Viscosity index of Zic 5w 40 is 173. The link that u have given clearly shows that the higher the viscosity index, more stable is the oil at higher temperatures. Viscosity index of 0w 30, 5w 30 and 5w 40 is higher than 0w 20. Check the official websites of zic and total for confirmation. Thanx again for bringing into my knowledge something new.

Viscosity index of Kixx 0w30 is 177. I still think that 0w30 or 5w30 is a better choice than 0w20 for our hot climatic conditions.

Dear Shahbaz Shah; what i felt during driving for last 4-5 days is that when the car drives on battery, its fuel consumption remains in between 17-20 but when it drives on engine, it decreases a lot (even to 13-15). Moreover it also changes to engine from battery whenever i slightly increases my foot. Is there any settings in its odometer manual regarding it?

If there is no other fault or no other major change apart from bigger tyres and bigger rims, then you should get your car scanned. Tell the scanner guy to scan your car completely and if no error is detected then tell him to reset the hybrid system settings. Reset is a must. Reset will restore all the settings to default. I have done another interesting research regarding plugs myself. The result of the research will be completed tonight when i arrive back home from my clinic. Will post the results of the research tonight Insha Allah..
