Dear AllAOAJust recently i have bought Prius 1.8 Model 2011 from someone in Karachi who was the first owner of the vehilce and was driving it since 9 months. Car has a genuine mileage of 85K on the meter. Since i am a new driver of Prius i would like to ask you guys the best way to drive this vehicle in order to get max mileage. Currently my car is showing an average of 18.5km/ ltr on screen and this is the best average i have got so far. (when i bought the car it was showing average of 22km on screen while it never reaches above 18.5 when i drive) I try to be within ECO line as much as possible with ECO Mode On (as adviced by the previous owner) and i drive with light foot but i have a concern that if you drive the car on battery mostly, the battery does not get charged sufficiently and as a result car engines turns on to help charge the battery. This reduces the average per ltr to great extend and all the efforts you did to save the fuel goes in vain. Does this happens with you guys? am i doing something wrong here? I have heared you get more than 22 KM easily.
I request the experts to comment here. Thanks
Dont drive slow....at 0 press acc hard/ brisk till 80 n use pulse n glide...youtube it
I have noticed due to the reason that i try to run my car within the eco line, cars battery is not getting charged enough. After every while engine comes in action and charge the battery till 3 bars, this reduces my cars average a lot. Todays average is 17km/L. What should i do?
Ok so by analyzing the comment of your's i had come to a diagnosis of Hybrid Battery Detoraition
for the price one pays for a 11 prius now a days , even 17-18 is a blessing ....... you should be happy
17-18 km/Litre is quite a good average in city.
enjoy the ride. drive safe.
only if prius owners focus on the roadinstead of the fancy displays inside
traffic could be much better !
Try to learn pulse n glide (youtube) i was in islamabad my avrg was 22-24 but when i driv in karachi it reduced to 18 this is because of city drive n battery doesn't get sufficient drive to charge battery for instance your usual drive is within 20 km traveling or the area is very crowded u can not drive more then 65km/h but when u go to highway it would give u 22 im sure. Don't keep your car on eco; let the intelligent system of car to decide driving mode.

I had prius 3rd Gen 1800cc 2011 model
It was giving 15kmpl in city, after replacing plugs, air filter and tyre pressure to 28
It started giving me avg of 20kmpl in city.
Although my prius odo was 50k km
I have 2012 prius L. it is giving till 29 km/l. the best way to press accelerator slowly nd wen u hav reached desire speed remove ur foot from accelerator nd prss little bit. Do not try to only follow evo, leave it on the computerized system of car it will manage automatically. Do not apply break instantly. breaking pedle will start charging of batery, so wen u know u hav to stop of slow down release ur speed foot and keep on pressing gently the brake padlecar will slow down and charge the bateries as well.I hope it will help little bit............
AoA, brother remember a few things while driving prius and u will extract maximum out of it.. Try to apply less brakes even though battery charges with application of brakes but will deplete even faster when trying to accelerate back to same speeds. Try to accelerate not using battery power but the engine and for that u will have to press the paddle a bit more so the car converts to petrol and once u establish the speed then gradually reduce the pressure till u feel now the car is on battery or by glancing on the display.. Avoid using battery run when u can use both battery and engine power in synergy as in areas where ur speed increases beyond 60. It will charge the battery for use in crowded areas. In long route, if u want more mileage then u will have to keep speeds below 105 kph I hope all these cautions will help improve ur mileage. Thanks
