Guangdong Province, located in southeast China, occupies a land area of 178,000 sq km. Its islands add a further 1,600 sq km. To the south it meets the warm waters of the South China Sea along a coastline of 3,368 km. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the center of this low latitude province where the Pearl River, 2,122 km long, meets the sea. The fertile Pearl River Delta is rich in fish and rice.

Huaisheng Mosque <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Huaisheng Mosque was built during the early period of Tang Dynasty. It is a Tang style architecture covering an area of 3200 square meters. Inside the mosque there is an old Arabic style tower 36.3 meters high which used to be a minaret and beacon for boats. The prayer hall of the mosque is now a modern construction built in the early years of the republic of china. Huaisheng Mosque was awarded the national model mosque and the Guangzhou Islamic Association is located in it. This mosque has a history of over 1300 years.

Mianaret
This tower is the sole survivor from the Tang Dynasty era over 1300 years old. It has a base of 8.66 meters and height of 36.3 meters. Two stairways lead to the top of the minaret. It was used for both religious and navigational purposes. In 1996 it was declared as National Key Historic Relic.
