though 2012 is not over yet and I expect to see some winter trips as well but in these cold times I was scrolling the map where to head for in summer 2013, K2 BC and GGLA trek would remain suspended most probably for a couple of years probably as my wife likes to tag along but with arrival of a newborn this June our travels are very restricted.
I have heard about this place near Khaplu from where it is sort of possible to view K2 and other neighboring peaks in a relatively shorter period of time and at a fraction of the cost, Iqbal top in Kande, Majrooh top and Bondit peak are some of the names that I hear are supposed to be good points apart from the viewpoint there are some lakes as well which are supposed to be picturesque and trout rich such as Kharfaq lake, Barah broq lake for trout can try my luck in shyok river as well.
I was also thinking about climbing GGLA from hushe side and coming down in a day trip, would it be possible?
I wanted to explore upper Kaghan valley a bit more but after some negative reports from Babusar side this year I want to divert my attention to other areas, I hope LOC and bears should be the only dangers one should take into consideration. Is Khaplu area exploreable without army permission, would guides/porter really necessary if yes how much would they charge, how much would a jeep cost from Skardu to Khaplu and onward to hushe
any thoughts/suggestions on above
what are your plans for the coming year please share
