Hi all!
My friend, Nasir, and I did several road trips in Ireland (I lived in Ireland for 8 years, and moved to Pakistan some two years or so ago). I had a Nissan Primera 1998 model, there, and I plan on sharing pics of all my road trips, both in Ireland, as well as those undertaken in the Netherlands, France, UK, US and Canada.
So this particular trip was a weekend trip (Ireland is a very small country, compared to Pakistan. The population of the entire country is around 5 million, which is much smaller than the population of our beloved city, Karachi (approx. 20 million). Even in size, Ireland is very small (you can drive from one end of the Republic of Ireland to the other in 4 hours or so). However, since we made a round trip, and covered a lot of areas, we travelled approximately 750 km in less than two days.
How the trip was planned.
On a Friday afternoon, I called my friend Nasir (he was also at his office), and asked him what was the plan for the weekend (we were both unmarried at the time, so we didn't have any family commitments either), and our families were both living in Pakistan.
So we made a spontaneous plan to travel the Ring of Kerry (those who aren't familiar with Ireland, look up Ring of Kerry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Our route was as follows (again, you can look this up on Google maps, to get a better understanding).
Day1
Dublin - Naas - Newbridge, Portlaoise - Roscrea - Nenagh - Limerick - Adare - Newcastle West - Castleisland - Killarney
Day2
Killarney - Killorgin - Glenbeigh - Cahersiveen - Waterville - Caherdaniel - Sneem - Kenmare - Mallow - Fermoy - Waterford - Dublin
We left Dublin on Friday, around 7 PM or so, in the evening, and reached Killarney around 12 midnight (we stopped at several places, on the way). Since it was a last minute plan, we did not have any hotel bookings, so we took pillows and blankets with us, and slept in the car, at a car parking of a church, in Killarney.
Day 2 was wonderful, however, since I was the only driver (my friend didn't know how to drive, at the time), I was exhausted by mid-day.
The ring of kerry was amazing. Hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed the trip!
