still a bit confused actually i was also thinking like the ignition timing has to do something with electrical system and valve timing has to do with the way or in other words the time duration for which the valves opens and closes,, but your replay has reminded me one more confusion i think tappet adjustment or valve clearance is another thing where we just check the clearance at the tdc of compression,,

actually my bike is running very poor and i think there is something wrong with valve timing it has lost power,, since the mechanic checked the ignition timing with some sort of a device that was flashing light on the fly wheel and was attached to spark plug,, he told me ignition timing is ok,, just to confirm did he checked the ignition timing? actually i asked for valve timing to be checked ,, and he did it so i assumed that both are same thing but was confused,,,
