Bango.. it depends upon where PWs positions itself..
All the brands/products that gain customers respect over the years, who have built core compitencies, a status and have survived over the years.. NEVER use push marketing!
Using cheap, sasta, in-ur-face marketing ends u no where!
Its always the quality buddy... never the quantity...
Try telling Rolex that push marketing is a cool thing and they will sell more, they'd laugh! Try telling this to rollsroyce, to bentley, to NEC, to GE, to Apple..... . . . . . .
Bhai PWs is entering it self into "Chappar kanati" league by doing this... my reaction to PWs would be.. com'on maan!! Get some life!!??? Don't be idiotic!
Remember, ferraris sells not because it fulfills a need for commute, it sells because its a passion, its a statement, its a heritage, its a legend, its a status... such brands never die! however the push marketing - chappar kanati brands die every other day!!
Thats what I am saying - quick money? Or long term never ending good returns? the management choses...
All the companies that have survived over the years, focused on developing core compitencies... not marketing!
It is the core competency of samsung to make high quality LCD screens which has put it in a front line in Mobile phones and LCD TVs, Samsung provides LCDs to apple and nokia too! and apple gets inferior LCDs as compared to what samsung uses in its own branded poducts...
Hence... businesses don't survive on this cheap-pants pulling, begging-3rd class marketing... they survive for other reasons.
It is the very very very illiterate and un parh- Seth view of our society where products are tried to be sold solely on the basis of sales and marketing team.... that why we could never come up with a single superior product over the years.... all are just avg. brands......
