AOA All
I have felt that everytime I plug in I have to go through a very laborious procedure to find out anything pertaining to 'my problem' if at all I am able to find it.
I therefore wish to make a recommendation to pakwheels webmaster and management that it will be a great service to pakwheelers like me who want conclusive response on certain aspects as they tease me. I may fail to gather all of them in this writing but through discussion and mashwara we can evolve a good lot.
Let me tell with an example what I want. Suppose a rather new pakwheeler and for that matter a new off-age driver wishes to know how his xyz car is performing and he turns to pakwheels to find absolutely nothing concise already in there which can tell him that in a glimpse. Imagine a table with first column listing parameters such as Ave. Petrol/Diesel Mileage, Ave. CNG Mileage, Average oil change mileage, average oil change cost, service cost, etc etc and etc. And on the top row are listed various cars sorted or grouped together somehow, like engine displacement for example. Now not only he will be seeing the performance of his own car model but also of comparative other cars as well.
People who wish to buy can make up their minds on such data.
And such data can be compiled continuously. With forms available, the data is modified and keep presenting the user min, ave and max figures. Another field for example if the user enters his figures he gets to know the percentile at while his car performance lies! Seeing that my car lies at 75% percentile will relieve me of any unnecessary doubts created by you know friends around with their unnatural consumption figures. However finding a 45% percentile may mean I must have a closer examination etc.
People entering the information should put in their cars registration number for example to avoid the data being replicated and hence generating false results. This is just an example though. Other means and better ones can be thought of.
For that sake I am very convinced that this feature alone is absolutely beneficial and will justify any effort that will go in order to put it on.
Further now consider the second case which I have often thought about and which can be blended in the above example and data as well. Assume for example that I keep or intend to keep a vitz. Like most of the guys I tend to worry about its parts, service, mechanics etc. There is no concise information on pakwheels which help towards this effect. Suppose I log in on pakwheels and go to that service page and enter by inputting appropriate information and either all information is presented to me or can be filtered on my input to find that the best mechanic or shop as per user feedback has been abc shop in g-8. Imagine the value it carries for me. Also shops can be ranked this way for vehicle classes and the ranking system be explained.
Nowadays main problems being faced are related to CNG ranging from installation, what to instal and what not to and from where. I suggest that if appropriate forms are prepared and code for results is in place this will add up to a commendable efforts a few months from launch.
Also third example which can obviously be put together with the first two is close user groups based on a particular model for example, like Honda City 2003-2006 or whatever.
And fourth most important of these is to have a section where all patented (I mean authenticated) information to be permanently placed. For example I have read about many things on pakwheels like what does the various texts and figures on the tyre mean, etc but as part of discussion boards where information slowly fills the bottom part of the cupboard and vanishes after a while perhaps.
I would recommend the making of either a special discussion board where a contributor can send information for review or information accepted from within the already available discussion boards. Based on user feedback and expert opinion such information be properly formatted and put under a new link on the left side of the page, like Informative Articles etc. For example if I wish to know how is a 2-point vtec engine different from a 3-point one and what has the 'i' of iVtec added to the engine I am sure I cannot hit the jack pot on pakwheels unless I am very lucky! Remember this information does not change over time like consumption figures does and therefore constitute to be a permanent entry somewhere. A discussion board is awrong place to have this info for 135 million users. More than 99% of whom will not be able to read it before it is wiped out of the list.
Well I know I can go on and on as ideas keep flowing through my mind like I breath air but let me see what response does this post bring.
I will recommend the managers to make this sticky till a resolution is obtained so that everyone can see this listing and comment.
I will keep my fingers crossed after tossing in my ideas (which may not have been properly organized in placing as I kept at writing without glancing what I have jotted) and instead of making this any sort of debate let us all seriously put in our piece of mind once unless something new and better comes in our minds.
Regards
X2
