I have posted this at another discussion, and I have painstakingly put this together, and would like all the brothers to read and hear what you have to say.
Now we have to think seriously about this issue. This is a recurrent problem being repeated over and over again, while we the citizens are the victims. We should not act like victims and just bear this news, with non caring attitude.
We should get organized, protest against these kinds of flagerant violations of law.
THIS IS WHAT WE CAN AND SHOULD DO.
Write to the police commisioner, or visit his office if possible, to have a campaign to clean up the road transportation. This accident is OBVIOUSLY caused by POOR visibility. We can not just blame the driver but look logically into what may have caused this accident along with thousands of others, happening all around us, by mainly buses and trucks.
The Poor visibility is caused by the BLOCKED UP, heavily decorated windshields.
I do not have any problem with decorating the truck body, but I DO HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH FRONT WINDSHIELD BEING DECORATED.
My life could be at risk, due to Mr. Gulaab, the Truck Owner, wanting to decorate the truck's windshield with Roses and close up shots of some fat Film Actress's eyes.
This is extremely stupid thing to do, to block up half the windshield of already SMALL windshield glass of those Old trucks, they literally have smaller windshield than Suzuki Mehran, and half of that front windshield is blocked with decoration, so, half the time the driver is blinded anyway.
My concern along with many here is, that WE SHOULD HAVE A CAMPAIGN TO REMOVE ALL THE DECORATIONS FROM THE Front windshield of all the Buses and Trucks in Pakistan, as they have the Law against CARS, with BLACK TINTED WINDOWS. And many of the traffic police walaas are good as stopping the private cars with Black Windows, why don't they do same thing with trucks, while the Cars, with Black windows DO NOT KILL anyone, due to black windows, and on the other hand, thousands of people of died, due to carelessness and lack of visibility of the Bus and Truck Driver due to heavily decorated windshields of Buses and Trucks.
Plus, their should be a law, at yearly checking of headlights, tail lights, brakes, emissions, etc. of all the Cars, Trucks, Buses, etc. in Pakistan. They have these laws in all the countries, including the developing countries like China. You can not drive the car, Truck Bus in US, until your car, Bus, Truck passes these checks, every year, by state authorized places. They give you this small inspection sticker with Date written in Bold letters, to be put on Lower Left hand side of the car's windshield. The cops do check those, and if you have expired stickers, you automatically receive a fine, no ifs and buts, plus you are told not to operate the car, and take it directly to nearest licensed emissions, control station to check for emissions and safety.
Plus, another important thing is to STAY VIGILANT. Drive carefully and ALWAYS anticipate MISTAKES from others, specially, Truck and bus drivers.
This sad accident seem to have occured at an intersection, cross roads. The Suzuki Alto seems to be hit from the Passenger Side, and pulled under the truck. The Trucker may not have even seen the car, there is no sign of Trucker trying to brake, it looks like a high speed impact by truck, where car immediately went under the truck at impact.
The Car drivers should also BRAKE, at every small street corner. This is a LAW in USA, wherever a Small Street meets the Big Road at an intersection, the Car, or Truck comming from a small side street SHOULD ALWAYS STOP.
And in case of Two Small Streets Intersecting at crossroads, ITS IS A LAW, the CARS COMMING FROM ALL SIDES, APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION SHOULD STOP COMPLETELY, look, left and right, then proceed if there is no car comming from the intersecting street.
I did not even see ONE STOP sign in Pakistan. Even if there were any, people would STILL NOT STOP. In US, even if it is 1 am or 2am, people STOP at the STOP signs, and at signals, people ALWAYS STOP, till the light turns green. In some Small cities the Traffic Signals, start to BLINK, or flash, after midnight. Meaning, you MUST STOP, but also, you can go, once you have completely Stopped, and checked your Left and Right Side of the intersecting road, and then you can proceed further.
ITS ALL COMMON SENSE, but as they say it here, the common sense is not so common afterall.
God Bless us all with utilizing common sense in every matter, including driving.
