Check engine light signifies that something is not right. All the sensors in the car have a specific purpose.
Take the car to any capable mechanic, who will first run diagnosis and determine the fault code. Depending on the condition of the engine and code type, he will give you the estimate and time to solve the problem.
honda engines are pretty long lasting, but have a common problem related to heating. If you car is heating up along with other problems, then i suggest an engine swap. Else you can get the codes and fix the problem.
FYI: Just right next to the Ecu, underneath the glove box, you have a socket, where you can take a wire and insert in two sockets, that will bring the car into diagnostic mode. Then the light will blink in several intervals. You can count and determine the code yourself too.
