Hello there,
I have come to Kuwait about 4 months ago. Due to the economic downturn the prices of cars globally have crashed. For example Toyota is giving 45% discount on the list price on all its vehicles (and toyota is the best selling brand in Kuwait).
I am thinking that I will but a Land Cruiser and then after two years bring in back to Pakistan under the Transfer of Residence (TR) scheme. I dont think that such low prices are going to be a permanent feature.
I have finalized the vehicle to be Toyota Land Cruiser (GX-R) with a 4.5L Diesel Engine (1VD-FTV) and most accessories. The price is coming out to be 14,000 Dinars (37 Lac Rupees). The only issue is that all vehicles in Kuwait (or for that matter Gulf region) are Left Hand Drive (LHD). Therefore, I have to convert the jeep to RHD for Pakistan. Any idea if it is feasible? I am told that too many people in UAE and Pakistan can do it. Are these people professionals (competence wise?). Is is recommend to make such conversions? Any idea what the cost may be like?
I will only be buying the land cruiser if it makes sense for me to send it to Pakistan. Otherwise, I will just go for some other cheaper SUV (Parado, Yukon, Tahoe, Grand Cheroke, etc.).
I am looking forward to hearing from the learned memebers of this forum.
regards,
Rommel
