Thread: Suzuki GS-150 Alter in Sprocket

    Default Suzuki GS-150 Alter in Sprocket

    Salams All, I would like an alteration by front and rear sprocket in my Suzuki GS-150 2008 sealed engine, for get enhance acceleration & top speed also, stock in GS front 15 teath and rear 41 teath, front is not like common as install with 2 or 3 bolts it has only center big nut covered driving shaft which has smaller gears male/female. I want to replace them with 16~17 teeth front and 36~38 teeth rear. Any experience user have any idea for replace or reputed mechanic in Karachi area..??

    More than a mechanic u need to find suitable parts as per ur requirment. The Sprocket fitting mechanisim is almost same on all Suzuki Bikes & almost in all old model Big bikes. SO u may find some suitable stuff from Junk (Renchore Lane Market).

    i don't have good experience with the change of it ... you get the acceleration in first 3 gears and then...... every thing goes down.. coz the Engine RPM respond as per factory defaults .. if you want to fit these in your bike then your Engine RPM needs to Perform faster then the factory setting...

    Salam,

    Don know about GS exactly that how much top speed it can go on factory default...but what i've observed that GS150 did'nt provide that much torque then CG 125 and CB 150..Specially CG can give a real hard time at it's top speed...if u wanna try then i suggest these specification: Front 16T - Rear: 40T OR As per my suggestion i think it will give your more result if your piston can handle it: Front: 15T - Rear: 40T...Try them and do provide feedback.

    @zaidi dear alterations in sprockets express 2 kind of results
    you cant have much acceleration+top speed by a modified sprockets set
    first of all u will have to make a mind,do u need top speed or the acceleration?
    i have some calculations that will help u in it....
    your bike has 15/41 its stock and its reduction ratio is 2.73
    if u need top speed then try a set of 15/38, its reduction ratio will be 2.53...
    it means lower the reduction ratio increase the top speed
    but
    its also has limits
    and higher the reduction ration creates much accelerations and it will decrease the top speed
    if u use 15/45 its ratio is 3.0 that will increase ur accelerations but it will kill ur speed
    u can also have lower reduction ratio but having one more teeth in front sprockets as @adeelmatrix described 16/40 set of sprockets and it has also 2.5 of reduction ratio,this set will must increase ur top speed but it will also kill ur accelerations too.....
    so as per my exp if u need top speed with stock accelerations the go fo 15/38

    salaams. and thanks all of u for response n suggestions, in the lights of all ur comments i got that any replacement of stock will be demand sacrifice in shape of dwon side acceleration or top speed. to find sprocket for front with 16T is also a problem for it. what will be get difference if remain front as its is stock n install only rear for 38/36T..? will it good combination..? and another thing will it can give better result in fuel efficiency in km p/ltr..?

    with 15/38
    top speed will increase
    acceleration will remain same as stock
    1st,2nd gears ratio will have been change (bike will feel lil softer)
    rpm will be lil lower then earlier in final gear and it will suite u for lil long distance travel and it will also effect on ur fuel eco in positive

    Wo to sai hy gear wali cycle ka scene lakin ap imagin 150 me Bohout bara spoket dal dia hy uske ke bad isko 1 kilometers chahain or phir ap khud samajh Jain gy 1..

    Finally I bought suzuki gs 150 spoket 38t in 800 ruppes Andoni intereses bike Bohout Zabardast ho gai esa lag raha hy 500 cc engine chala raha hun na to koi bhari pan Naw koi prob suzuki walo ne is bike ka spoket Bohout bara diya hyy so i change igt

    the top speed will be lowered down with 38T? Since you said it is just like 500cc now....
