Thread: Suzuki GS150 : Black Swan

    Default Suzuki GS150 : Black Swan

    Asalam O Alikum PW Members.

    After the quest of finding a bike for personal use, over a month spent in constant questions, I purchased a Suzuki GS150 today. Bike is Alhumdulliah good in running. Had a few minor queries for which mechanic is not available at the moment. Invoice price was 114500/- but I got it in 115000/- PKR from Suzuki Mangla Motors.

    Looking forward to the ride and a prayer to Almighty Allah for a safe and present experience. Ameen.

    UPDATE APRIL 12th, 2014
    - Got my licence seized by city police :p
    - 250 kms on the dial
    Suzuki GS150  Black Swan -1397185

    - got indicator lights changed to Honda deluxe 2014 style. 360 rs for 4 lights from honda dealer.

    if bike is missing and feels like it will be down, it might be an issue of faulty coil. i am not sure but my brother's gs faced this issue when it was 200 kms done only. the coil was replaced under warranty in 30 minutes and it was good to go. take it to suzuki motors and ask them to check the bike. it might be missing because of dirty petrol or something.

    Since engine is still new, mostly shifted from 60 to 70 with about 6/6.5k rpm. A few revs to 100 and touched 110 near Mandra.

    Had stops in all major townships. Dina, Sohawa, Gujar Khan, Mandra, Rawat, then Islamabad.

    Experience was good Alhumdulliah. Had a bit of trouble breaking. But other than that, a gem. Front break is not good at all. Rear was a bit skiddy and low. So mostly went with gear shift.

    i have felt it after riding 21k kms and owning a gs since 3 years that the original brake shoes are not that good. next time you change them, try ym or any other good brand but not original suzuki and you will feel alot of difference.

    yes the fitting is just the same. you can ask for ym brake shoes, pnce a shop keeper gave me kawasaki gto brake shoes and they fit perfectly and result is also amazing. original suzuki is available for around 350 rs and you can get these brake shoes for 260-320 for front or rear. but result is amazing.

    I will try them surely. :-) thank you for the guide. Also, I read somewhere about RM200's front break shoe for front GS. Do you have any idea about that? Or is it better to install a disk setup?

    i dont prefer disk setup because of the local fittings. i prefer keeping it original. although disk setup along with rims is available for 10 k and with fitting for 12k here in Karachi but i dont want to experiment when my bike is running fine. you are not in Karachi other wise i would have offered you a test ride. i have no idea about rm200's brake shoes. btw did you adjust the brake setting?

    Ahan, I am in Isb and really a newbie for bike maintaining. Just the back clip one attached with tyre. Tightened it up.

    I saw many members had disk setup and wanted one. But had no idea about how and where so left it aside for a bit.

    you will learn everything with time and very soon because now you have a bike. and regarding the disk brake, we dont have new disk setups available so it is a bit of khuwari to find a good setup and get in installed properly.

    Yeah it is. I asked a dealer in my home town and he said that it would be about 13k if he ordered one from lahore on demand. He installed it on his own GS 2010. I am thinking what to do now.
