Default Disappointed owner of Suzuki GS-150 :(

I had been using Honda CG 125 from 1999 to April 2014, in this time period i bought almost 5 to 6 CG's. I was never disappointed by Honda in this particular time period. But i got bored with 125 so i wanted change and something new and also wanted bike with easy availability of parts and after sales services. i had read so many good reviews about GS 150 on the internet including Pakwheels. My kid bro who is in Karachi also bought 150 and recommended me to go for it with eye closed.

So the main story starts from here, i bought 150 on 25th May from Murree Road. Rode carefully during initial 1000 KMs running period. When my bikes's Odo was around 1200 kma. Its current went off and bike also went off after jerks. no electric component was working. i loaded it on my Suzuki Pickup and took it to the only company operated workshop near Marir Hassan. Staff there warmly welcome me ask me about the problem. They smiled and said sir this is very common fault coming these days in 150's. they said battery's rectifier grip is lose. they just pushed it and bike started and was working absolutely fine. I got oil changed and first service and came home happily.

Last friday i was going to faizabad from Rawat, my bikes ODO was around 2000 KM,s. When i reached koral chowwk two guyz with 125's challenged me, i accepted the challenge and my bike did well beaten them with big difference till khanna pull. At khanna pull traffic light one guy with 150 popped in and gave me signal for race, i also accepted the challenge and pushed my bike to full throttle and my bike was giving 110 KM/h. after going 5 to six KMs with same speed a loud sound of chusss came from bikes engine and bikes lost the motion and tick tick sound started coming from the head of the enging. I lowered the speed. second day i went to the other small workshop of Suzuki company near dhoke khabba road committee chowk (as people told me who were at marir hassan outlet that this workshop is about to close in few days and have to visit Baber autos near committee chowk). Person who was inchange at baber autos thoroughly cheaked my bike and said Piston Rings and Head of ur bike are blown (farig). I was like WTF :O. He said u dont have to worry as ur bike is under warranty and these thing will be replaced free of cost. u just have to bring warranty card.

Now i have submitted warranty card to them and waiting for approval. I am not a rough rider or habitual racer. as it was friday 4 pm there were very less traffic on the road so wanted to have little fun and ended up with this tragedy I am very disappointed with this incident. Hoping for the best but inside thought "new bike ka enging khul gya is killing me".

I ll update you guys with future. Plz pray for my loss

Why depreciation factor is not applicable to Pakistani corolla ????

    @asimgujjar bro
sorry to hear about your bike bro. but..
I have an OHC bike (pridor). When I drag the bike in racing etc activity, I change oil at 600KM (max). +when I travel on long routes I change is on 500KM. Viscosity of oil should also be considered as per the terrain and weather. In casual use, I use to change oil at 1000KM (Max). In winter i use AHL oil but in summer i use Havoline 20-50 or Shell AX7 Advance.
+ First oil I changed at was 300KM, then at 600km then at 1000 km then around 1970km. after 2000km break in period i took the bike for long journey with continuously driving between 80~100km/h for around 600KM and then back the other day again 600KM. All was ok.

So, moral of the story is that Oil change is a must on proper times as well as cleaning air filter, getting your bike tuned from best available mechanic on time as per manual. Cleaning drive chain and checking brake shoes pads, battery (and water level), head tail indicator lights, checking for loose nuts, proper air pressure in tyres, tyre condition and washing and wax your bike, checking race and clutch cables and oiling various components as per owner manual, setting air/fuel mixture and timing as per owner manual. These things looks messy in the beginning but spending time wd Pw bros and youtube instructional videos, one can learn quickly. And lots of helping bros here like Gul bhai(gs150), bro basic(gs150), bro vicky(gs/piaggio/cg), bro bluhorn, bro Amjad(AHL bikes), bro Naseer(CD100/Pridor) and many other bros who helps allot in learning phase. This way your new bike pays you back as a long lasting friend and as well as very good resale value.

I myself am interested to get a new GS (and an RP) but my affiliation with Pridor is not letting me sale it and i cannot maintain more than one bike.

    regards,

    Agreed

waisay to me, GS electric system is as reliable as Deluxe. i think the only electrical trouble i had till date is fused headlight bulb. My Deluxe also fused its headlight bulb once.

There are actually two manuals for each bike. One for the buyer and one for the mechanic. The mechanic one has complete details of engine maintenance/repair.

I have seen engine manual book of GS and some Atlas bike I guess CG125 manual. If you are getting the engine/mechanic manual then it's great. With this manual one can surely learn how to maintain/repair the bike engine

I think @basic bro also got GS engine manual from PS.

@margallar, well this guy is doing me a favor though not selling. Have you tried calling a 3S dealer?
@bike_junky, thanks for the Owner's Manual link
@Juste, yes, Service Manual is quite different than Owner's Manual, just like the one @basic bhai got. It's kinda holly grail of information, for bikers or engineering enthusiasts, like me

If I get my hands on it, I'll definitely share it

Without a doubt brother, PS bikes have really tough engine, less vibrations, latest SOHC engines, Butterfly carburetors instead of typical diaphragm carbs

Check owner's manual. May be it's 10W40. Use your favorite brand.

OHC means type of engine with cam shaft/rotters on top and valves underneath them.

SOHC = They have single cam on top (i.e. over the head).
DOHC = They have two cams on top

OHV means type of engine with valves on top and cam shaft on bottom.

Here are the animations for the curious minds:
