Default Help required in making a choice between Suzuki GS150 or Ravi Piaggio :S

    Dear All,

I have just shifted from karachi to lahore and i need to buy a bike asap for daily day travelling. I am stuck between ravi and Suzuki 150 as i am not aware of the market dynamics in Lahore. I owned both Suzuki GS150 and Ravi Piaggio in karachi and i faced the following issues :

    1) With GS 150 i always found its brakes to be below average and its skinny tires not providing enough grip in slippery conditions.

    2) With Ravi every thing was perfect except lack of its spare parts issue in karachi , yes i know you don't need engine parts on a daily basis but its cosmetic parts are the ones you need more often as majority of the mechanics and general public handling in open parking's will cause them to break. I sold my beloved Piaggio in karachi after getting irritated with broken cosmetic parts and temporarily gluing them again and again.

If Ravi spare parts is not an issue in Lahore i would definitely buy Ravi but if its not the case then i would have to opt for Suzuki provided i can get a disk brake and some reasonable tires installed .

My travelling would be around 60 km per day as my office is in gulberg 2 and im most probably be shifting to bahria town so you all can get an idea that i need comfort and hassle free travelling.

Any help full advice (specially from piaggio owners) is badly needed and will be appreciated .

    Thank You

(Its a humble request to all Honda lovers please don't suggest to buy a CG-125 as i owned a cg as well but my choice is limited to GS150 and Piaggio)

What are your main priorities bro? Both are great bikes it depend on what you are looking for in a bike Power, Acceleration, Comfort, Fuel economy?

its not about having priority in fuel mileage, pickup etc as i mentioned in my earlier post, if piaggio has no issue in spare parts in lahore then it would be my choice , its more about making sure of not repeating the experience i had in karachi with ravi dealers.

GS 150 has absolutely no problem for me and its engine is even better but looks and braking are two aspects where it lacks what piaggio posses but having said that i would prefer to be on a GS150 with old looks rather than being on piaggio with no spares.

I suggest you to go for Gs150 as the latest model is eye catching too and Suzuki is being a good brand too and spare parts are easily available. About your issue of breaking and slippery tires. There are different tires available in market with good road grip. Specially service and panther diff series. I think it depends on breaking technique too. Tires are main factor but breaking techniques are important too. How you apply breaks etc..

I saw RP 2014 model today on Mcloed rd, and I can say with confidence that quality was much much better than GS-150. I am a GS-150 2014 owner and except engine performance rest all the things needs much improvement in terms of quality.

Let me give you an example:
today I went to Mcloed Road and asked many big Honda Spare parts shop about Honda Deluxe ignition coil (I want to replace it with my GS-150 coil which is not good enough) and could not find it any where. I asked many big spare parts shops including Makhdum corporation which is abu of spare parts dealer in Lahore.
Agar koi part na milnay pe aye tu phir kahi pe b nahi milta... Honda k parts easily available honay chahiay...
I also asked about Ravi parts, and the guy there (I think it was Furqan or Irfan Autos, forgot the exact name) and he said they can be available and then he suddenly asked what do you want. I said I want front disk brake system and he said I have brake lever, cables, disk brake unit but he did not have the shock absorbers, and that was only one shop I asked about it.

I hope you are getting the point here.

yup i get it .... only worried about its cosmetic parts as i experienced earlier in karachi ravi dealers dont have what they quote usually , initially they start by saying they have this and that and when u get serious about buying it they would ask you to wait for a while as this and that part is short due to this reason and will be available in few days .... anyhow this was my karachi experience and seriously it cant get any worse so i am expecting better response here in lahore.

I am seriously hoping all this not to be an issue so that i can own a piaggio once more as it was pure pleasure to have it in karachi which was ruined by their stupid customer dealing.
