    Question Thinking to install 17 inch tyre in Suzuki Sprinter

    We all know that Sprinter has a big drawback of very less space between rear tyre and the mudguard. Last year I have done some tweaks like uplift a little the rear mudguard and lengthened the Jumps a bit, it really helped but still in case of pillion, tyre is easily touching whenever there is a jump or bump.

    I have already searched PW forums and found ammarzahid shown his interest (in changing the rear tyre to 17 inch) in one of his comments. Not sure what was the final outcome.

    Right now I have mix sort of information #road grip, #fuel efficiency and the #top speed. I am regular rider at speed of 65 - 70km/h, mostly get petrol average per liter as 65 - 68 and have found road grip awesome. How much these factor will get effect, if they is minor then I should go for it.

    The main concern is that I do not want to make jump harder to avoid mudguard collision, it badly affects the comfort.

    17 RIM from CG can be used and it will increase the intital Pick of Bike more but reduce top speed a little.. I expect no effect on Feul or Road Grip.

    17' will reduce top speed but increase Accelration ... also on Long routes bike will have less feul economy then it use to have.. its good for city use becuase it will make ur ride very (SAY VERY VERY) quick on feet...

    90/90-17 tyre on 2.15-17 or 1.85- 17Rim will be a good replacement for stock 300-18 tyre on 1.60-18 Rim(GS 150 Stock tyre & Rim).
    The reduction on wheel circumference made by 17 inch rim will be compensated by wide & high profile tyre so the final gear ratio will not be reduced however road grip & projection of 90/90 tyre will be increased.

    @abdulrehmanrauf

    2.75-17 tyre with rim of CG 125 i.e. 1.60-17 should serve with out any major impact on fuel economy & top speed. However I f u r willing to use tyre of CG 125 (300-17) then it would not gives relief for fender touching issue.

    Thanks All my fellows on PWs. For now I am not going for the rim change. I consulted two of the major Service centers and my family mechanic. All of them have the same opinion as imranbhatti, vickytulla, ammarzahid also mentioned. 17 inch will effect Sprinter performance a great deal. It will get lower from the rare which will be a factor in less road grip. Also engine ground clearance will become lesser. Reduction in top is obvious. And If put a bigger 17 inch tyre then it will not help me greatly in avoiding the fender.

    Anyhow, the tweaks I have already made are enough for now, the actual problem was the weak chain sprocket set. Due to weak chain, I had to get it tight many times resulting in tyre to be near to the fender tail.

    With fresh sprocket set, the issue has been resolved.

    If there's required further improvement then the latest mudguards available in the market can be installed. The new mudguards are redesigned and are more away / straight / more pointing outside from the tail.

    Feeling happy as I satisfied once again with my loving ride

    after using cg deluxe and cg classic I have found deluxe control better on sharp cutting because of 18" rim and I have rode a dyl mini 100(a 70 with junoon engine with 17") rim and found the control of junoon much better at sharp cuts and it could effect your engine life as with 18" your are covering more km with less engine revolution but with and your can conform the engine life thing with gs 150 manual which say 1200km running instead of 1k and by placing 17" you will be altering the final drive ratio and according to one of my mechanic alterting fianl drive ratio can lead to crank weight worn out ppl alter there final drive by sprocket and clucth box too
