Default Is Suzuki's Automatic Transmission System Reliable?

After two month's constant comparison b/w Vitz & Suzuki Swift i have now made up my mind for SUZUKI SWIFT (Getting something brand new rather than used).

Moving on i am more inclined towards getting SUZUKI Automatic Transmission System (ATS) rather than DLX. Please advice because i have heard that Suzuki's ATS is not trust worthy.....

Also i've heard people saying that water seeps in under the spare wheel area in heavy rainfall....is it true??

if u can, i would suggest sticking to manual DLX for a number of reasons.

    1. Swift has 1328cc 91bhp engine. the auto tranny Pak Suzuki provides with it is 4 speed hence a car that already has a fuel average of 11-13kmpl in manual will end up 9-11 on auto. so with auto, u will sacrifice the main thing swift is famous for i.e. power
However if auto suits u, there is nothing to worry about reliability. ur car will be brand new with 2 years warranty. plus 3S dealerships will have all parts and expertise at their disposal to resolve any such problems a peace of mind u will never have with JDMs. however u will take a hit with resale of auto.

2- I own a 2012 DLX and never faced seepage problem. however few owners did face this problem but it is only due to a faulty seal on the back which can be resolved by the 3s dealership if u encounter it and ur car is in warranty.

also check the Swift Owners club thread to gather more info. as i mentioned earlier, i also own a 2012 DLX almost 16k on the dial now. got 2nd hand but i m truly happy with it and I thank to God every passing day that i didn't made the stupid decision to buy a used (abused actually) JDM.

suzuki uses AISIN AT Boxes,Toyota also uses AISIN, infact porsche also gets gearbox design from AISIN (may not be sure) and a couple of other european cars also go for AISIN. They are the best gearbox manufacturers in world

They sell cars world over, so reliability should not be in question.

Thanks a lot. Appreciate your advice.
    1. That means an auto swift will be high on petrol resulting in more cost.
    2. What's a 3s dealership?

yup. auto will be heavy on fuel than the manual since in manual, gear shifts are in driver's control so u can switch to a higher gear at lower speeds to rev down the engine thus saving fuel.

3S = Sales, Service, Spares. any local manufacturer car dealership offering these 3 services under one roof will be called a 3S. more like a one-window operation.

Thanks for your feedback. All points noted. Now what would be your last advice SWIFT Manual vs Automatic? Driving a car with one foot & hands only on the steering feels good rather than a constant workout....what do you say. Plus fuel consumption...how much do you anticipate will increase per km?

    SaharS...

Swift auto will provide u mileage roughly around 9 km/l. thats roughly 380 kms on a full tank. Manual on the other hand can give u between 11-13 km/l depending how u r driving it (revving it or keeping revs lower with higher gears). '

As far as reliability is concerned, there is no issue with it since every single part will be available in Pakistan plus i havent heard many transmission issues with suzuki liana which uses same transmission as being offered in swift.
