Default my experience of the PKDM Swift auto (2014)

    Hi there,

my family has bought a suzuki swift auto in dark blue color.

I already have a 2010 PKDM swift DLX (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/mem...ence-new-swift) and have enjoyed it so much that my family decided to buy the auto version of the same car.

We needed a hatchback with all safety and security features and this is the car that met our requirement.

I have kept a JDM 660cc (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/mem...-daihatsu-move) and was not too keen to buy a second hand JDM car this time. especially after this thread: (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/spo...ese-660cc-cars)

    Total cost uptil now:
    Price of car: 1,416,000
Tax paid during booking (tax payer) : 50,000
    Insurance (insured for 1,468,000):44,000
    Registration: 53,000
    freight charges: 17,800
Floor mats and mudflaps (purchased from the suzuki dealership) : 1700

    videos:

PKDM '14 suzuki swift 0-80 km/hr -full throttle - Video Dailymotion

PKDM '14 suzuki swift 40-125 km/hr -full throttle - Video Dailymotion

fuel mileage of first 267 kms : 10.74 km/l (details in post #183)
Second fuel mileage ( car driven since new -501 km) : 10.52 km/l

    Post 500 and 1000 kms
    Average mileage :10 km/l

There is a small vent behind the rear bumper on the left side just for this purpose - if you open the boot and look at the plastic lining, you can tell that the plastic has a slightly different shape on the left side

Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

    i don't understand the physics here .
this is good my brother it shows that u r sitting in a new car, it shows the car and it door r properly sealed after closing, other thing is all the cars have ducts left and right side of their rear bumpers for the air release during closing of door and boot , after some time ur door will be of it just bec of every part is new,
later on i will post the pic of that duct

The swift has undergone its first free 1000 kms (or 45 days post buying) tuning. They just tightened /loosened the nuts and bolts. I was assuming they will do something in the engine as well.
Khair, now that there are no restrictions, I have started driving it like a normal car and God does this car love to be revved... Press down on the throttle and just watch the revs go up and with that amazing DOHC engine sound, it's really enjoyable.
So i take my words back - this car is no old man's car. It's just as fun to drive as the manual and loves to be revved with the added luxury of being an auto tranny.
This will ruin the mileage but who cares when you're having so much fun

PS: revving it doesn't mean driving it like a maniac and risking everyone's lives. I'm a safe driver and take it upto speed only on empty roads where the speed limit is 100 like the ring road.

That is great, but i read some views on official FB page of suzuki swift by some owners when auto was launched that it has poor acceleration, so is there no issue with acceleration and is it same as manual ?

No no, the manuals acceleration is definitely better. However this car isn't as boring as I thought it would be. You can't red line it but the revs do go considerably up and there's no problem whatsoever when you want to overtake a slower car and need that immediate acceleration.
So for city driving its as good as the manual. You can have fun in it, you can easily overtake other cars without any problem. There was this impression that the auto variant won't be able to do the aforementioned things, but I haven't faced any issues.

Did they actually do any tuning?
In my case they just tightened undercarriage bolts and washed (raped) the paint.

Lol. Same here. Except I didn't get my car washed

It's just that the engine itself completes its running in after a 1000 kms and you can drive it normally and the mileage you get after this running in is what it will be like later on - not good

I've got an average of 10 km/l with normal (heavy foot and light foot) driving.
I'm sure I can take it to 11 atleast by hyper miling.
But this mileage of 10 km/l is the average which is achievable.
You must be driving with a heavy foot. Don't accelerate suddenly. Keep your speed below 100 km/hr.

Which suzuki dealership are you visiting?

The dealership where u get my car tuned from (suzuki master motors, defence, lahore) just tune the car and 'advise' me to get the manual 2010 swift polished and cleaned, I get it done twice a year ( and i have to specifically tell them not to spray the undercarriage with diesel or spray water/use soaking wet cloth on the inner part of the doors )

    Suzuki north in karachi.

The 'polish' abrades your paint. They also dont bothrr to protect it with a proper wax after that so it ends up doing more harm than good.

You need to voice your concerns - by not paying the bill next time if they clean your car without your consent.
    This is madness

Hmmm. This is strange. Try changing your fuel pump. And check the tyre pressure regularly.
What your driving route? Is it city driving or high speed (above 80 km/hr) highway driving?
The manual swift gives me 8-9 km/l with xli /GLI smoking type of driving

I guess these cars are just fuel inefficient and we have to suffer them :p

Buying the more fuel efficient vitz or other JDM's have their own problems ( https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=224713)

However I am seeing alot of swifts both auto and manual these days. I guess the imports are way too expensive and the aforementioned thread has opened the eyes of many potential buyers
