Default Lubricants for Suzuki Swift Sedan (1000cc Japanese Maragala)

    Assalam o alaikum

I bought this car, model 1990, a month back, now I am about to get an oil change. I replaced spark plugs, wires, filter, etc earlier.

Please recommend which oil I should go for? Previously I owned 1994 Khyber, I used Castrol GTX for that. One thing I hated was it got very thin after a longer drive in summer afternoon since engine temperature gets higher for an older car.

For this car, engine was overhauled earlier this year and is currently working fine. Silencer throws water and not a single drop of oil gets smoked out. I don't know which oil was being used in this car. What I am concerned is that every ones says to go for a thicker oil i.e. 20w50, and I believe that if its not needed then it brings extra load to engine due to more friction, also cold car starting take a couple of selves and that's not good as well.

I am very much inclined towards Zic being Korean synthetic oil but what should I go for? Zic site doesn't list mu vehicle as well.

A cultus with more than 80k milage is recommended Zic A 10w40. Cultus has the same engine as of this car.. Please Help what should I go for?

Also the box gives a humming sound and its really really annoying. I don't want to put STP in it as many says, it will result in more frictional losses in transmission plus undesired loading on car mechanics.

You valuable feedback and experiences are appreciated.

    Regards,

    Zahid Asad

Zic is not recommended for old engines and in our region mostly not suggested.

Get a regular Shell yellow one. Keep an eye on timely oil change.

Zic 10W40 or Castrol 10W40, if you're in hotter region then Castrol GTX 20W50 but try to get original one because many fake are available for ZIC and Castrol.
