There is a no way a stock Altis can beat a B16, no matter how well kept the ALTIS is.
CIVIC 05 VTI Manual 50K done Petrol.
Civic IVTEC 2006 Manual 28K done Petrol.
Accord CL7 5 Speed A/T 70K done Petrol.
I have tried all these car against a Red 1992 Ferio with B16 and apart from Accord, none can keep up with it.
Even the Accord was falling behind after 100km/hr and I do not have the nerve to play with Accord so I stopped.
I have also driven my Director's Altis SR Cruisetronic and Civic IVTEC both A/T.
Civic is simply in another league when it comes to A/T cars both in performance and response/smooth shifts.
Corolla has a much refined engine, with better lower end torque and fuel economy but it does not feel as powerful at top end nor it will get your head to the headrest when floored.
Altis is pratically slower in acceleration and it also does not like high speed compere to Civic due to its organic shape, weightless electronic steering and a much inferior air drag not to mention the additional weight.
And all my observations have also been confirmed by 4-5 drivers in my company who drives both Altis and Civic 3s maintained on Petrol.
