Well i partly agree. I think larger engine consumes more fuel just to idle n in traffic u pretty much idle a lot of the times. but generally, if u are driving in reasonable traffic, the newer engines are fine. Yes 8th gen is a gas guzzler but 9th gen is exactly the opposite.
Well i drive a 9th gen daily n i wont call it anything like a corolla but if compared to 8th gen (which i also drive often) 9th is slower, less stable BUT much more comfortable and quieter. Now, for a sub compact sedan, what you really need is fuel economy, reliability, comfortable drive and practicality, all of which i believe make the 9th gen a better over all package compared to 8th gen. There are more 8th gen in UAE simply because its production run has been 6 years long (compared to 3 years' run of 9th gen so far) plus back in those days, the Korean cars were not so common as they are now in uae so civic/corolla's sales have been eaten up by those cars as well. but otherwise ppl buy civic all the time n they love it.
I am also excited to hear about the 1.5l turbo charged civic. I think its time for Pakistan to accept turbocharged cars as mainstream and i m glad that once again it will be Honda that will bring a new concept to Pakistan. I just hope people are no misled by stupid mechanics to not buy it.
As for the shape, looks gud but i ll have to see it in real life to judge how it looks n yes i am certainly glad that the two tier dashboard is gone! I just hope they bring back the needles as nothing is as fun as seeing needles climbing up n up
