Valid point and agree to the quality of letter. Just for sake of my own understanding, let me ask a question..
USDM Civic minimum R+M/2= 87 [RON 91]
Saudi Arabia; Turbo RS = 95
Australia, Phillipines, Indonesia, Thailand.. minimum grade at pump is 91 , Which is same as required on USDM, so no confusion.
China, 92 required
Don't you think Honda Atlas will risk and take a huge liability by telling consumer that 91 is recommended but 87 can be used ? Despite the facts we all know how much inferior even this 87 we have. Because every country where Civic is launched the minimum grade is OK to use except Pakistan where we are still pumping 87..
I maybe 100% wrong and the article I published maybe totally useless and not based on facts.. but if you just take this one argument .. what you think What Atlas will do ? Or what you think as turbo Civic owner.. after spending 3 million on the car..
Also let's say PKDM is detuned for lower grade fuel.. means it will run on 87 but there will loss of HP and expect it 20 to 30 hp .how than 1.5T will stand along with 1.8? [This will be a very rare possibility]
One more thing if we say it will run on regular but loss of performance and I don't know what loss that will be expect it in double digits easily.. why to spend 300K extra on something which will not be running on its potential because of low grade fuel and you keep more wear tear in your bag and risk engine related issues..
