With Sports Mode On and Traction Off, the A3 was still slower than being in Normal mode with Traction On.

Yes, rightly said Fazal Bhai, it's even in the case of some Japanese cars. My friend has a MarkX 300 and he tells me that even if he turns the traction control off and tries to drift the car or on corners he tells me that it isn't completely disengaged and doesn't let him drift freely.
Is this really a safety feature?
Because you're driving with the notion that TRC is off and the car suddenly doesn't act like you want it to, not too pleasing for the drifter category.
