This was one of the reasons i sold my 2018 Oriel (similar condition - 55k mileage fully maintained by Honda 3s and didn't have any steering issues so far) as it was out of warranty and I just didn't want to deal with steering rack or other issues that are prevalent in pre-facelift models. If the steering rack does get faulty then Honda might entertain this particular car under quality claim as its 3s maintained but that's honestly 50/50. I would recommend buying facelifted model (preferably 2020 or later) just to avoid this potential headache.

I’m planning on buying a 10th gen turbo rs I was wondering how does the car perform on normal petrol, or do I only have to use high octane?

There’s a huge price difference between pre-FL and FL. I could probably stretch my budget to get a 2020 model. I wasn’t even planning on changing my car, just heard from my friend who had kept his car very carefully that he will be selling so that sort of convinced me. Buying from someone else is something I’m always cautious of. I either buy from friends/relatives or I book a car, no in-between haha.

No issue. It runs fine on regular petrol

Since it is 3S maintained, take it to 3S and get it checked . If no issue of steering rack is found, then go for it.

Steering rack can be handled by 02 ways.

1. Quality claim, which is accepted by Honda if car is maintained by 3S.

2. New part from.market which is now cheaper

3. Application of grease by local or Honda service as temporary solution

My 2017 had this issue from day one as I drove off from the showroom. The rack does not fail, it just rattles as the car rides over rough roads. I initially thought the noise came from a loose bonnet latch but a few months later upon my insisting to sort out the bonnet, the dealer said it was in fact the rack and they had already put in a claim on my behalf months ago but the factory had no racks at the time and that they were waiting on one to arrive for me. They greased the rack but that did no good. Happy ending, the rack came and it got installed. I still have the car with over 80k kms and it drives like a dream.

My only concern is that the car is out of warranty so Honda people won’t treat me the same way they’ve treated you God forbid I come across this issue somewhere down the line haha.

Thank you! If I remember correctly you switched from Altis 1.6 to Civic X as well haha. I wasn’t aware that the part is available outside the dealerships as well. Any idea about its cost? Just preparing myself for the worst.

Aoa a strange problem im facing my car is 2018 civic today i came to start the car but the remote was not responding no lock unlock i open the key from remote and open car door the car started honking the push button is not responding nothing is happening just car is honking like the remote is not its own i tried with the spare remote but same it seems like both remotes are not responfing to car

Update issue resolved both remote's batteries were down at the same time changed the batteries working fine Alhamdullilah.

Will the suspension of civic x get a little softer after few thousand kilometres? I don't know about others but my civic x has some pretty uncomfortable suspension. I'm saying this after coming from city 2015.

I shifted from 2015 city to civic x and its suspension coupled with soft tyres is much better
which tyres are you on?
what are the manufacturing dates on those?

thats not right, I shifted from City to Civic X and there is day and night difference between two cars. Civic X suspension is much better. I would suggest to check your tires, make sure they are not over inflated.

Factory tires? BG LUXO? those are the worst tires in the world. I have two cars bought zero meter with BG luxo and in both cars (Civic X and BR-V) became hard (wooden) at around 4000km. Both cars received replacement tires. Continentals on the Civic and Yokohamas on the BRV. Both cars drive like different cars compared to when they rode on BG luxos.
