well there were alot of things i took into account before settling for manual firstly its the price, then the cvt itself not a fan of how it feels. i prefer a sim0le six speed auto or dual clutch setup. so as neither is available manual was the obvious choice . Then there is the question of petrol price IT might be low for now and a year or two. but after that its hybrids or back to alternate fuels . i still have my efi lpg kit from my civic. not saying gonna use it but if petrol jumps above 150. i would have the option. the cvt on other hand wont be able to properly run on any other fuel like it was the case with city vario. and when petrol prices are high then 1.8 cvti and manual corolla wont have much difference in resale. so that was the logical reasoning behind the decision. other then that i love going through gears and work a car. the only regret i had with my auto civics was that they had a great engine especially the vti but they were limited by the 4 speed gbox . i would frequently think what fun it would be to have this vtec engine rev with a manual. so long story short , intend to keep the car for 5 years atleast and thought by then resale would be as dismal as a 1.8 Altis of 10th gen has today. but will be a hoot till then. however i must admit resale value did get better of me at the last moment, went for the superwhite instead of planned strong blue
