That's just a common thought in Pakistan. I've come across so many people who expect the ABS to increase their stopping distance. The fact is that the ABS keeps the tires gripped to the road, and grip is more important than your brake pads being slammed onto the caliper.
Here's a very good illustration of braking with and without ABS. Look at what happens without ABS:
Tires. I can't stress that point enough. Most people always overlook tires. I can't tell you how many times my ABS turned on when I was driving on bald tires, on hot dry days even. In the rain, it almost always used to turn on if I needed to make a quicker stop than normal.
Just get those tires looked at, and brake a bit earlier. Your car will thank you.
