Sn 5w30 should be the choice

Salam everyone

I might be deviating from the topic but I've chosen 1jz for my Cj5
Can someone shed some light regarding availability of parts , pros and cons of the engine.

I'll be grateful​

1 JZ & 2 JZ engine rebuild parts are available in abundance at Plaza Automotive Market, in Karachi.
approx 3 weeks back we have rebuilt 2JZ and pushed into a motor launch with success. 2nd 2JZ complete with auto trans is pushed into a Cressida 1993 which is under restoration..

Can you please kindly explain a bit, why SN 5w30 ? As I suspect engine is consuming oil, dont you think SM 10W30 would be a better choice considering it to be more viscous ?

P.S. : Sorry if I sound naive, as i dont have much knowledge about this.

The prefix signify

SN: For vehicles manufactured after 2010.
SM: Vehicles manufactured between 2002-2009.
SJ: Vehicles manufactured before 2001

5w-30 and 10w-30 have the same viscosity at operating temperature; one is not more viscous than the other (all other factors equal)

About your oil reduction problem, it's probably due to leaky valve seals. Considering that your car has probably been under a lot of cold starts during lockdown, that's probably why it has lost oil. Using 20w-50 or even 10w-60 won't automatically solve the valve seal problem - you can just continue using 5w-30 and top up as required, until you get the root cause fixed.

Do weak spark plugs or weaker Spark plug cables can cause delay in car starting or problem in cold starting like no self crank at all or a weaker self ?

Try to use maintenance free batteries like those of Daewoo, they have better CCA (Cold Cranking Amperage) than normal wet cell batteries.

They do have that but they dont take well to heat unless properly insulted.
Wet ones would be better unless given a proper setup.

@Xulfiqar and other experts, your kind advice is required.

Car model : honda city aspire 1.5 mt 2017, first owner very carefully used (20k only).

Problem: Hard EPS.

I bought the car in 2017 from showroom and replaced the tires with michellin, size 195/65/15. factory default is 175/65/15. Then i felt the steering was hard, more hard than it should be with bigger tires. I had it checked at honda gateway lahore, they said its too hard it needs recalibration. they connected a laptop to OBD port and did some settings of eps. the test drive felt softer than before and i came back. now it feels i should have asked them to make it more soft since i saw in their software there were certain levels of softness/assistance (1-5 i believe).

My question is, should I go and ask them to make it as soft as it can get, is it possible? will it affect handling of the car at high speed. how much should it cost to connect laptop and adjust settings.

No, my car has new starter, alternator, generator with new 50 Ampere (2 months old). Concerned wiring and relay is also new just 1 month old.

My car was experiencing startup issue, sometimes all OK while sometimes no crank at all. After that, when I left car for 10 minutes then try, car get started without any fixing.

Anyways electrician just changed spark plugs to used iridium plugs and plug wires to new 8 mm Ultima brand. Nothing more than that & after that problem vanishes like it never happened ever.

So that's why I posted this question hereq1

Similar issue faced by me too in XLI 2009. But changing battery to Dry Battery solved the issue. After this issue never happened. I did one more thing Spark plugs got cleaned(after few weeks of changing Battery). That's it. Around 4 months passed and not a single time faced this issue again.

I First thought its starter issue as last year i got my starter service as it was having issues but changing battery solved issue for now.

So for me it seems Battery issue (As it was 2 years old and car also not used much during that time)

I only have concern that do weak spark plugs and weaker older spark plug coils do have impact on start issue, not cranking issue or am I just satisfying myself for none that it might happened due to coincidentally and I am happy useless that my car starting problem has been resolved successfully by Changing plugs and coils

@Xulfiqar When I rotate driveshaft of my car, I can hear a clunk on both clockwise and anti clockwise, this same clunk also appear whenever I start driving my car from stand still..

Your Input would be much appreciated

is the clunk internal from differential or you hear it from the U joints on the D-Shaft?

Its not internal noise. Its from D shaft, don't know if its U joints or what ? They look fine though

were they visually checked or you checked the joints with a lever?

did you remove the d shaft and check the diff alone?
