Fellow BJ40 owners and enthusiasts, I need your help!!
I've been in the market for a used BAIC BJ40 Plus 2022 for the past few weeks, and during that time I've personally inspected upto 10 BJs and gone through nearly a dozen inspection reports on PakWheels. What I found has been consistently surprising. Roughly 7 out of 10 BJs showed engine oil seepage in the same area, around the valve cover / cam cover gasket on the TGDI 2.0 engine.Every single report flags it in the same spot. Same model year. Same location. Same pattern. This doesn't look like individual owner negligence or bad luck. It looks like something bigger.
My research suggests this could be related to the quality of sealing compound used during CKD assembly at Sazgar, cheap silicone that doesn't survive Pakistan's heat cycling the way a proper nitrile gasket or quality sealant would. Atleast that's what I have been able to gather. The seepage tends to show up right around the 30,000 to 40,000 km mark on almost every unit I've seen.
Now here's where I need the community's input:
- Have you observed this same oil seepage on your BJ40 2022?
- Did you get it fixed and if so, how?
- Did your dealer/Sazgar acknowledge it under warranty?
- Most importantly, was the fix permanent or did it come back?
- Has this issue got something to do with Engine Over-heating?
If you've had it properly fixed by an independent mechanic, I'd love to know which workshop and what product was used. This information could genuinely help every BJ40 owner in Pakistan who plans to take their car to the northern areas where you can't afford an engine issue.
