Well the metro story came out to be what I expected......... the prices they were quoting were for old models .......... there wasn't any difference in the prices of new models available there compared to the market price after the little favor that the dealers usually give............

Hair 1 ton retail (double chill) model price suggested by company on circular:
RS23600

Offered by dealer : Rs 22000

Metro : Rs 21850

Installaiton is 1400 from anywhere......... they say its 1K at metro then charge 400 for the stand :s

Btw there was a mitsubishi Mr Slim in 0.8 ton which was made of really good quality stuff for 22500

Guys I am looking forward to buy another AC of 1 ton or less. Suggest me which one should I go for? I am thinking of Haier and LG, what is the price of both in 1 ton (or less)?

I went out to buy AC today. First had a trip to Metro but they didn't have LG ACs. Then I went ot a dealer in gulshan. He told me 30k for 1 ton LG AC and 41.5k for 1.5 ton. Same 1.5 ton I bought last year for 33k.. But he also told that after sales service is not available for LG for next many months since it has been handed over to PEL and they will start their services after september october.
He had 3 models by Haier with a price difference of around 2k between them. The most expensive of the three was for 29.5k with 4 way cooling and plasma technology.
So guys suggest me which AC should I go for? Haier, LG or General (I didn't see general in any shop by the way).

Having done my research i would suggest you to go for haier's top model 1.5 ton AC.

I visited almost every shop in gulshan and jauhar area but no shop keeper was able to satisfy me. So ended up buying mitsubishi Mr Slim extreme 1.5 ton AC instead of 2 ton ACs of other brands.

Although its quite expensive but the level of satisfaction and its ability to cool down the room within a few minutes is great! Air through is unbelievable. I have put it in our TV lounge which is big in size and also has an open kitchen attached to it.

Bhai companies ka hisaab alag chalta hai. Wahan favourism chalta hai. Like I was offered by a friend in cyber net that he will get me the same VX1962WM LCD for 19k that was available in galaxy for 15300, Inbox supply computer stuff to Cyber net and they are charging 3700 more than market price in one LCD.

More than favoritism its got something to do with "cheap quotes". The company that offers full scale deal from supply of AC to its maintenance and service at cheapest rate is given preference.

yaar i used general 1.5 ton in my room for almost 4 yrs but for last 2 times it was pain in a** so i switched to pel 1.5 which i purchased from market for 30k......cooling is awsome and i m fully satisfied now it alomost 1 months hopefully it will work good in future as well

Baray bhai aap sahi keh rahe hogay. I went through all your replies in this topic when i was doing my research, they were quite helpful.

All my relatives and neighbors who have one mitusubishi AC along with other ACs said that Mitsubishi is un matchable. Its been only 4-5 days that i got it installed..its new and its chilling:D so i'm Happy with it.

I too think Mitsubishi is not very good value for money i paid. But it still has the competitive edge over local brands. Haier has new models and it has mitsubishi compressor.

I will advise you to go to a bigger showroom where ALL brands are in stock. Werna tou jo unke paas nahi hota usko wo bura kehte hein. Wese 1 ton AC tou koi bhi acha chal jayega. Go there and buy wht looks good to you
