My bill has yet to come for the month I used it all the time. Nowadays its really very hot in karachi so have keep it running al the time. Lets see how much I will have to pay for the electricity.

i am using PEL 1.5ton 18,000btu in my room, it has a rotary compressor, thus giving some serious cooling! i am using it from the last 4 years and have never changed the gas, just got a gas refill this month due to hot weather and am cleaning its filters frequently, its really amazing, i also have SG ACs and LG and GENERAl 2tons.

My LG Plasma Gold with Jet Cool is of JUNE 2006. It is a piece of junk.
I hope new one is better.

Its a shame that Mitsu Slim Advanced is not available anymore.

I just wanted to add to my previous post about General AC (which I forgot to include earlier).
I do not own one but my Mamoo has 4 of them at his place and I often use to stay at his place for vacations (in hot summer). So it can be counted as first hand experience.

With respect to cooling General is number one even ahead of Mitsu Slim Advanced. In hot KARACHI nights, his General AC woud easily turn room into a refrigerator. Trust me.
The only downside is, it is heavy on electricity bill. But as he was not much concerned about bill so it was not an issue for him.
Further to add on this, his General AC are 7-8 year old models so may be new models are better on electricity usage. I am not sure, you will have to find out.

I wanted to buy mitsubishi slim advance but sadly it was not available in the market, new model mitsubishi slim xtreme was available.
But believe me I am satisfied with LG Alhamdulillah. Just noticed a single problem of dripping water from the outer where it is screwed up with the angles.

lol...mm..in split ACs, GREE has a reasonable performance. Haier has been working good for third consecutive year. Sabro is a big failure.
General AC is like 15-20 yrs old and was certainly the best.

Using GREE(1 ton),Super National(1.5),LG(1) ....was very impressed first with Super National ...but after 4 years ...wo baat nahin rahi

Yesterday I checked my meter reading it was 6256 at around 8-9 pm, today I checked at 1 pm and it was 6279. Meter reading on 23rd may was 5550 and now 6279, that is 729 units in 25 days even though I keep AC at 28 c normally and energy savers all over my flat and not a single tube light or bulb.

Paid last months bill of 7000 rupees with 24 days AC consumption.

Hope this info will be of help for many.

i currently have general window and dawlance split. dawlance is also good ....but no match with general. general makes the room chill.
if i had to buy a new ac ...i would surely go for general window

Nice informative thread guyz................. can anyone help out in identifying the best place to get a 1 ton split in rwp / islb ........... I have GREE or Orient in mind after reading the whole thread

So visited the shops adjacent to my office......

Prices are:

Hair 1 ton : 22K
Orient 1 ton: 21K
Mitsubishi 1.25 ton : 27K

Complete installation cost for Hair and Orient is 1600 as they have some kinda kit included and cost for mitsu installation is around 2700 as the kit has to be bought......

I guess mitsu would be the best choice keeping in mind that 1.5 ton fot the other 2 brands are 10K additional............. so infact mitsu is not expensive......... just the 1K kit has to be bought separately.........

I found LG to be largely used in Karachi atleast. Every where you go you will find LG AC's like hospitals, offices, banks, restaurants etc. When I was looking for the best split AC for me I was used to think why if LG is not good. But after discussion on this thread and thoroughly checking inners and outers of all the available brands at Makro and outer of LG from inside at dealer I found LG to be best for me in 1.5 tons.
Read the whole thread thoroughly and you will get a clear idea what you have to do.

I am looking for a split below 1.5 ton as the room is at the ground floor with no direct sunlight exposure and I think 1.5 would be more then what is required........
Btw eveyone that I have talked to emphasize the fact that dawlance actually tolerates voltage malfunction and other electricity issues.............. which I guess matter a lot in our country............but if GREE makes them for dawlance then.............
