Denon is pretty good, but you need to look at these specs for the audio portion of any amplifier:

Power: the more the better (make sure it is quoted as RMS power at less than 0.01% THD)
THD: the less the better (0.001% or less is excellent
Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 20KHz is good, but 50 to 18k is good too.
At least 5.1 output, 7.1 better, pre-out/amp decoupling a good option for later expansion
THX certification if possible

i went to friends corporation here in islamabad,
but they didnt had these new models, only had rxv 663 and 463, for 36k and 28k rs,
with margin for bargaining another 2 3k rs.

The Yamaha RX series has very good specifications.

Thanks for the input guys. I also thought, 600$ is too much for denon 391 as internationally its price is around 300$.

The THD is a little high, but otherwise the system is pretty balanced, and will sound quite good in a small-to-medium sized room.

yes, it is & i only realized this after seeing your earlier post. Otherwise i haven' got the slightest idea about such factors :(. With so much factors involved, nothing is easy to buy these days. Still Onkyo HT-S5305 looks pretty good. My Room size is 19 x 12ft.

Yes the availability is the issue as well. I went to a shop at Liberty Market and they had all limited Denon / onkyo receivers only and together with klipsch speakers system goes above 100000/-:S

The Yamaha RX series coupled with Klipsch Reference series speakers is an excellent combination.

Dont opt for Klipsch speakers. Which city are you in? Where did you got the quote for Onkyo HTiB from? What is your max budget?

I also heard that Klipsch are among best speakers. Infact the i was offered one Onkyo receiver for 35000/- and Klipsch speakers/woofer for 80,000/-

If your room is not treated properly it sounds quite harsh because of their horn tweeters. Especially in Pakistan, most of the houses have either marble flooring, marble tiles or chip flooring which do not help in absorption.

A guy baqai (he is a member here) bought a polk audio setup along with onkyo 607 for around 150k. The complete set was pretty good value when compared with international prices (markup of only 40-50% compared with 100% other people charge). The fronts were Polk Audio TSi400 if I am not wrong. thanks brother, but my budget is 50k max & finding separate things a quite a hassle & requires quite a knowledge which i lack. That's why i am tempted for Onkyo complete setup. At one point i was going to buy Sony DZ-810 ! for 39000/- but somehow didn't.

Then the onkyo and denon is your only choice if you want quality. Avoid sony/panasonic/samsung when it comes to HTiB. You will notice that both onkyo and denon you posted have dedicated receivers which go a long way in alot of different waves. I havn't researched the onkyo HTiB but denon looks good but markup on international price is almost 100%

Well Onkyo S5305 is for £330/- like 46000/- excluding tax & postage. So i guess 50000/- is not a bad price.

Denon 391 is for 250$ like 22000/- and asking 600$ is too much. Seems like Onkyo is value for money when comparing both.

What HTiB means ? home theatre in box ?
