other problem is that some parts have been updated by the manufacturer, e.g. the jatco small cvt boxes like found in sub 1.6 litre 4 cyl engines have an updated valvebody that prevents the torque converter clutch jamming on. 99% of scrapped parts wont have that installed as it was not an actual recall but a repair service.
same thing with the toyota ribbon cables for airbags. The newer ones dont suffer from the stiction of the old ones which caused them to fail.
people buying wear parts like AFR and MAF sensors and also brake discs from scrap need to be smacked in the head. All the scrappie cares about is the money in his pocket.
