There is no doubt that Galaxy S6 has slightly better image quality than LG G4 in Auto mode, but the things get quite opposite when you switch them to manual modes for advanced photography. LG G4 is a beast in manual controls and can beat S6 camera easily in its manual mode. I am talking about S6 vs LG G4 for Professional photography.

Manual mode is necessary when you want to make most out of your photos and create effects of your own liking. Professional photographers use manual modes.LG G4 in manual mode is no less than a mini pocket DSLR. Without having full manual mode, you can NEVER achieve many advanced photography techniques.

LG G4 manual mode gives DSLR like experience and gives you full manual control over the camera, just like a DSLR. S6 camera cannot even come close to G4 in manual mode. S6 pro mode is actually a kids mode in front of LG G4 manual mode..

Additional features that LG G4 has over S6.

LG G4 offers expandable storage upto 2TB - 3-4 minutes of 4K video recording takes ~1GB space and poor S6 has no expandable storage! What will happen to the great camera of S6 when it runs out of space in the middle of a photoshoot?

LG G4 offers removable batteries - You can keep spare fully charged batteries for LG G4 and swap them when they run out of power in the middle of photoshoot. What will happen to S6 great camera when it runs out battery and you cannot even swap batteries to continue photoshoots?

LG G4 offers RAW Shooting along with JPEG. RAW photos are a very powerful feature, mostly found in DSLRs. Professional photographers shoot RAW photos and it makes a big difference in quality, as it can be processed to exactly the way you like it. Too bad, the S6 great camera cannot shoot RAW photos!

LG G4 offers manual shutter speed controls from 1/6000 upto 30 seconds which takes photography to a whole next level. Its hilarious that the noob camera of Galaxy S6 cannot even control shutter speeds, which is one of the most important feature in advanced photography. The lack of manual shutter speeds make it impossible achieve certain photo effects. Too bad, S6 cannot take long exposures, no light painting, no light trails, it cannot freeze high speed moving objects in dim lights, cannot create motion effects, takes blurry photos in tricky situations due to no control over shutter speeds.

In manual ISO settings, LG G4 offers ISO from 64 to 2700 in many small increments, where as S6 offers ISO 100, 200, 400, 800 settings only and it cannot go any higher than that in its Pro mode, awful.

LG G4 offers live histogram, horizon, live camera perimeters (ISO, shutter speeds) and all camera settings show real time effect on screen when you change them. A very useful feature, as you know in advance about the camera perimeters and tweak them according to the situation. S6 pro mode does not show that.

After considering above features and its manual controls, LG G4 has much better "price to camera performance ratio" than S6.

I agree with you on manual thingy but mobile photography is about point and shoot. Which camera is fastest to open and taking pictures. And here s6 wins which is a big blow to LG G4.

I agree with both of you.

Speaking of point and shooting quality, no doubt S6 wins against G4, but with a very slight margin. You are forgetting the fact that G4 costs almost rs. 10000 less than S6 and you are not taking price to camera performance ratio into account.

DxOMark professional reviews tested both at auto mode.
G4 scored 83/100
S6 scored 86/100

Coming to price to camera performance ratio in auto mode.
Lets assume
G4 costs rs. 40000
S6 costs rs. 50000

G4 = 40000/83 = 481.9277
S6 = 50000/86 = 581.3953

Calculating percentage change of price to camera performance ratio.
581.3953 - 481.9277 = 99.4676/481.9277 = 0.2064 x 100 = 20.64 %.

According to DxOMark review scores, LG G4, even on auto mode has 20.64% better "price to camera performance ratio". Now if we take G4 DSLR like capabilities, expandable storage, removable battery into account, which one is better overall?.

Don't we want "value for money"?. Where is "Cost vs Benefits Analysis (CBA)"?

Lesson I learnt: Do not trust reviews blindly, do your own value for money (VFM) and Cost Vs Benefits Analysis (CBA).

S6 did only 3.61% better than G4 in DxOMark review. Even in real life, there is only minor (less than 10%) difference between the image quality of both on auto.

To be honest, all flagships are so great that there is hardly any noticeable difference in real life.

G4 is a very capable phone no doubt but it had nothing more to offer then G3, just a better camera.

I agree, comparing price against camera factor only is not fair. S6 has better display, better build, better sensors, far better processor, faster memory and better battery backup to name a few.
G4 has it's advantages as well like removable battery and SD card.

One thing i don't understand why people are so much crazy about "Shamshung"? These days i see these phones in every lallu panjoo's hand. Although i can afford tens of these i still prefer chinese brands as i get peace of mind that if i lose that i won't face much loss. With these chinese brands i get all the features which top notch brands offer but in half price.

Since android is an open source project most chinese companies get their own ROMs built for the phone. Like q-mobile phones have got their own custom built roms which offers same software features like any Shamshung phone. Only these phones lack is hardware quality. But still these phones can serve more than 1 or 2 or probably 3 years.

Esp when living in karachi where i have already handed over my 3 phones at different incidents to the na-maloom afrad, i too go for most features with minimum price so that dent on pocket is least if any mishap occurs. Whats the fun of having a 90k phone in yr pocket and you are always afraid of any incident

Most people also do not differentiate between long term and short term benefits. They forget that camera (photos and videos) is the ONLY long term benefit of owning an expensive smartphone. Photos and videos are memories that stay with us forever!. Smartphones come and go quickly, and their very advanced features get outdated in no time, but their photos and videos (memories never outdate). This is why i emphasize more in overall camera capabilities, in which LG G4 takes a lead from S6, but S6 is also great.

After having both of them side by side for a few months, my point is, "specifically" for an overall great versatile and highly capable DSLR like smartphone photography experience, S6 is a good option, but LG G4 is much better and more sensible choice..

Now in 2016, I highly recommend Note 5 over S6/S7 for those interested in S6 or S7, because Note 5 offers S Pen which is a highly productive feature (for office use especially) and also offers a more advanced functionality camera than S6.

I hope it clears my point of view.

No such issues, atleast in the one i had (J700H). You don't need to worry about overheating, they may feel burning hot near rear camera area, but when you read their temperature sensors via CPU-Z app, CPU and SoC stays under 60C most of the times and battery temperature stays under 40C in heavy usage which is perfect.

Even stress test confirmed that there is no severe overheating issues.

However, J7 gaming performance is great, but 1.5GB may not play too heavy games very well. In 1.5GB RAM, you only get ~700mb RAM on first boot with all apps closed.

Get atleast 2GB RAM phone with no overheating issues for solid gaming experience.

It's your personal preference that you prefer Chinese brands but it's not mine. Firstly in these Chinese brands I exclude Huawei because they too produce quality stuff and charge premium for it.
Coming over to the typical Chinese phones, I bet no one offers after market support such as software updates and warranty claims. Q mobile is one such example, their phone z10 lags like hell and offers awful battery timings though it has 3 GB ram 3000 mah battery and yet qmobile doesn't do a thing, on the other hand they offer sirf naam ki warranty, they take two month for replacement and then they say part is not available.
Renown brands are expensive for a reason, I bet no one can produce quality screen and camera like Samsung, their phones from A series to note line up scream quality. They all have stunning screens and camera to back up their higher price tags. On the other hand the Chinese maal pack so much into their phones yet they provide bad screen and camera quality and optimization tu bhool hi jao.

One can always block the stolen phone using imei number so that there will be no use of theif and now a days if u even sell a phone in market with box u will need to give the photocopy of your CNIC card so I don't think that its easy for a theft to sell the phone easily.
